We recently signed up for a 30 day free trial of Netflix and our blueray player allows us to stream movies off Netflix. Trouble is, every movie that I think of to watch is not on instant watch! I don't want to wait for a DVD to be mailed to me - that's the point of having them available instantly!:happytv:

Anybody have instant Netflix and watch a good movie lately? popcorn::

Here's my current que with a mixture of myself and my husband.

Psych Season 1-3
Law Abiding Citizen
Saw 6
30 Rock Season 1 and 2
The Christmas Cottage
The Messenger
Dear John
Shutter Island
Clambake
The Last Song
Brothers
Hot Tub Time Machine
Death at a Funeral

A couple ways to find things you want to watch on instant down load is to check out the Starz lineup website as well as the Epix channel lineup. I understand all those movies are on instant download.

What do you like watching? Sometimes I just browse the instant categories til I find something I enjoy.

Things I've enjoyed: Dr. Who, Documentaries (Disney, yellowstone, etc), Karate Kid, Alfred Hitchcock, 30 Rock and lots more... it really depends on your taste. If you tell us what you like people may be able to suggest something more easily :) If worst comes to worst, like I said browsing and an open mind has worked well for me :)

We just watched The Boys last night - it's the story of the Sherman Brothers - the songwriters who wrote a huge amount of music for Disney movies and parks. It was really great - I learned a ton and it was very touching as well.

I think there's a ton of decent things to watch - quite a few "new to us" movies (we never go to the movies), a lot of kid things, tons of documentaries - I am a Nova / Frontline / crime investigation junkie, and so many current TV shows.

I had heard others say there wasn't much selection, so we also just signed up this week and I think there's quite a bit.

I also watched Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. Very interesting if you like that kind of business story.

A few from our queue:
Precious
The Bounty Hunter
Sweet Home Alabama
When in Rome
Old Dogs
The Girl Who Played with Fire
(The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest is showing as available for streaming next week, so I have that saved as well - already saw the Dragon Tattoo on PPV.)

Spend some time rating the movies on the website as well and it should give you some decent suggestions.

Here's a few of the ones that we have on our streaming list. We have a very long list and a wide range of tastes! :lmao:

Dear John
Alice in Wonderland (the one with Johnny Depp)
The Taking of Pelham 123
Julie and Julia
The Proposal
The Last Song
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Royal Wedding
Meet Me in St. Louis

and we have a bunch of the National Geographic documentaries and a lot of t.v. series too (Lie to Me, 10 Items or Less, Man vs. Food)

Lost! The entire series is up right now... it's the greatest show of all time!! :thumbsup2

The Tudors & Doc Martin are two BBC series that my family loves. We have also begun watching Eureka.

I like to watch TV series on netflix streaming:
Avatar the last airbender
Lost
Say yes to the dress
Hoarders
30 Rock
Arrested Development
British version of the office
Buffy the vampire slayer
Better off Ted

I think if you start browsing you'll be amazed how much is there. I'm thinking of cancelling our regular netflix and just doing streaming.

The Tudors & Doc Martin are two BBC series that my family loves.

YES!!!! And did you know the next series of Doc Martin is either going to be in production or released (can't recall offhand) in Spring of 2011?! :cool1:

We watched all the Tudor episodes we could and now we're doing the DVD thing, and HATING it because it means we can't gobble them down in one sitting as we had been doing on snow days.

We're doing a lot of Brit / Showtime / HBO TV series as well. We did Doc Martin and Tudors plus...

Psych
The Office (both Brit and US versions)
Fawlty Towers
Rescue Me
Waiting for God
Intelligence
Eureka
Wire in the Blood
Bones
Rough Science
All Creatures Great and Small

The kids have been getting their fix of

Hey Arnold
Scooby Doo
Invader Zim

Movies in the queue or ones I've recently watched

Mary and Max
Beauty and the Beast (the original Jean Cocteau)
Up
El Bola
The Crucible
Jesus Camp
The Kite Runner

Just for giggles -- Bunny Shorts (but keep the kids away because some of them aren't too appropriate for wee ones).

Plus, since I decided to start working out, I found a pilates stream -- Crunch. Ooof. Makes me rethink all the bad-for-me food I inhaled at Disney in November. :headache:

receiving the DVDs in the mail is surprisingly quick. We can usually get 3-4 per week.

Great thread. I've already snagged a few ideas, so thanks OP. To contribute:

On the TV front:

Pushing Daisies, S1-2

Family possibilities:

Also, one of the AM news shows the other day mentioned that Netflix is actually thinking of phasing out their DVD mailing system in favor of all instant streaming.

The Science of Dogs
Dogs Decoded
Lewis and Clark great journey west
