can you recommend a ladies shaver for a new shaving adolescent? Would like a close shave without injury :thumbsup2

I'd just look for the type where the head flexes. That way the angle of the blade isn't entirely dependent on how you hold your hand.

I've been shaving for years and tried many razors. I have yet to find one that is better than another.

Can't say that I've seen an electric one.

In the end, men's are the same as women's, but women are usually more willing to pay a higher price for a pink package.

I love my Gillette Mach 3 Turbo razor. The handle has a nice even weight to it, and the blades are easy to rinse off and keep clean. A clean dry razor will work the best, and last the longest. So keep it out of the shower between shaves, and pat it dry on a towel before storage.

You would think the skin on a face would be way more sensitive than skin on your legs. So if it's good enough for a man's face, wouldn't it be just as good for a woman's legs?

DD complained about the hair on her legs and I got her a bottle of Neet. It came with a little plastic "scraper" type thing that she used like a razor to scrape off the product and the hair. It worked great for her and no worries about cuts. It also lasted much longer than shaving does.

I bought my 9yr old dd an electric razor from Target this summer. It is hot pink, rounded shape and can be used in the shower or out. It was about 9.99 (maybe 14.99 but no more than that). It is easy to use, and she has had no problems with it at all. She prefers to use it in the shower.

They have these cute little ones at Wal Mart specifically for 'tweens. They run about $8 and are battery operated. They usually have them hanging on the end of one of the HBA aisles. I got one for my daughter last Christmas and it works great, no cuts or injuries at all.

Electric razors aren't typically very good. I'd suggest teaching a tween with a flexible head razor, of which there are a ton. They will be much safer and more effective. I learned on a non-flexible razor back in the early 90s; many a woman has cut the crap out of her legs on a scary razor, and the flexible heads are much, much safer and easier than the razors we learned on!

My dd is also 9, and I bought her some of the razors for sensitive skin, but now that I see that the electric one works for your daughter, maybe I will look into that. By the way, we just started this whole process. :goodvibes

My daughter started shaving at 8 and she used the cheap electric shaver from Target. It was awful. It didn't even shave her legs, just kinda trimmed the hair. My daughter hated it bc she could still see the hair on her legs. I ended up letting her try shaving with my gilette razor and showed her how to properly shave. She's now 10 and has yet to get cut.

Anyway, if your daughter is self-conscious of the hair on her legs and that is the reason she wants to shave, the electric razors may not be the route you want to go.

I wonder if they still have them I was searching this weekend. :goodvibes
