In my opinion MGM dining is more about atmosphere than it is about great food. If you want the best food and service, I would go with Brown Derby. It will be quite expensive. I have really enjoyed meals at both Prime Time and Sci-Fi, but I thought both of them were great experiences rather than really memorable meals, not that the food was bad in either place, it just wasn't spectacular. I have never been to Mama Melrose's, so I can't speak to it.

We have never eaten at the Brown Derby, but have eaten at the other 3 sit down restaurants in MGM and I would think your best chance of sitting together would be at Prime-Time. You will have to sit in separate cars at Sci-Fi. MaMa Melrose and Prime Time have good food but the atmospher at
the Prime Time is funner, especially if you will have kids with you.

Personally, I'd go with Prime Time. We had a group of twelve, we were able to sit together (between a few tables and booths, still totally able to talk to each other), and the wait staff made a big deal about the "family reunion".

Brown Derby is our favorite. Its definitely a "must do" for us. PTC is a fun place for a large group however.

It sounds like Brown Derby or PTC would work......
Is Mama Melrose a sit down meal ???
I do hear quite a bit that SCI FI is good for the atmosphere but that the food is not that good and with a large group isn't do-able.....
:tilt:

Sci-fi is a lot of fun and they have a great desert for kids, it's a sundae served in a frisbee! :goodvibes Check out allearsnet.com for pictures and menus of all the MGM restaurants. Anyway, the cars have three rows of seats that fit two adults or three children per row. You could request two cars that are next to each other.

We've always enjoyed our meals at Mama Melrose's *yes, it is sit-down* and SciFi. Although SciFi's cars are a little difficult for a large group *you would all face forward, like in a real car, so that makes it hard to converse* I think they still have tables, with the front of the car at the head of the table, and the back of the car at the end. Not sure how many can be seated at these tables.

Hollywood Brown Derby is our very favorite restaurant in MGM, and one of our top 5 in all of WDW. If you want a little more upscale, this is the place. Not that it is swanky, park attire is still acceptable here, but the food is a cut above *or two, or three!* the other sit-downs in MGM.

If there is a mix of adults and children in your group, I would go with '50's PrimeTime. Good choices, comfort food, great shakes and a fun atmosphere. The kids especially will get a kick out of the waitstaff's antics, as it usually comes at the expense of the adults! ;) My kids are teenagers now, and they still talk about when the waiter made Dad eat his green beans!

If money is not a concern and you want the best food, I'd go to Brown Derby.

If you want a fun time and good food, I'd go to Prime Time.

Mama Melrose's is a sit-down and my husband really likes this restaurant, for me the food is hit or miss.

I wouldn't do a large group at Sci-fi.

We have eaten at The Brown Derby & 50's Primetime many times and always enjoyed our food. We ate at both last year and had really good meals. We have also had lunch at Sci - Fi and enjoyed that also.

With our big group of 13, we usually eat at Hollywood and Vine. Personally, I think the food is just ho-hum, but you can't underestimate "all-you-can-eat" with a huge group (especially if it's your "one big meal" a day which is what we usually plan).

Our group of ten had an absolute blast at 50's Primetime. I honestly really loved their Pot Roast dinner too. One of my favorites of the vacation. :thumbsup2
