need info on changing reservations

How hard is it and how much does it cost to change reservations. We were supposed to be in the World july 7 thu july 13 but there has been an emergency heart operation in my family. My "2nd Dad" is in critical condition but holding on. His condition changes from ok to bad constantly. I love him very much and cannot leave with him like this. I know I need to change the reservations 6 days prior to check-in so I have to make a decision by next Wednesday. If anyone has had to do this can you give me any idea what the cost will be? Thanks

I guess I would call Disney and ask. I do know they have penalties for changes after the 45 day mark, but if you were to move the package to a later date due to the reasons you have stated, they may wave the penalty. Did you have insurance on the package?

no insurance. we have been 5 times and never needed it. I don't think the insurance would cover this anyway because it is not an immediate family member. This is my "boss" that I have worked with for 24 years and who is like a father to me, therefore the reference to "2nd dad".
