Hi!

We want very badly to sail in the Royal suite. We were not able to get the cabin over the Easter holiday in 2005 (no kidding!) so we decided that we would go anytime in the summer of 2005.

Those cabins have not opened up yet and I do believe that my travel agent has already put in a request (faxed I would assume) of our wishes for a Western cruise at anytime during the summer.

Do you think we have a chance of getting this cabin when our options are this open? (Meaning we can go any time, just that we want cat 1..)

We could have gotten a category 3 for the easter break but my DH said no.. if we're going. we going with the big suite. We have ourselves and 4 kids. We need the room!

Any info on what else I could do, or if you think we might be able to get that cabin would be appreciated.

Just as an aside, I could have gotten the Royal suite about 5 months ahead of time for last year but at the time my hubby said no way to sailing in August (too hot and humid) but he has since changed his mind since we really want that suite. So I guess some do stay open once in awhile.

Check another thread referencing wait listing for Cat. 1. I saw a post today from someone who I believe has a category 1 on May 22, 2004 and can not go. He is asking anyone interested to PM him.

We have a Cat 1 in April and had one 2 years ago. Since it is so expensive, we book every other year and save up for two years. Both times I booked it the first day or so they opened up the dates (June 2002 for April 2004 cruise) and just asked Disney directly to search for the first weekend it was open. It turns out to be about 18 months or more in advance. I just lucked out that it was vacation week this year.

The only other option people talk about is the 60 day time limit. If it is the 7 day Saturday cruise you want, start calling on Thursday and keep calling until Sunday to see if anyone cancelled. I've heard on this board that even if you are waitlisted, you aren't necessarily the person who gets it if someone else calls for it before they do the waitlist.

Good Luck!

A funny note---I booked my first Disney cruise for Feb 2002. I managed to get pregnant and have a baby between booking and cruising. My mother watched my 7 mth old while I was cruising with my other 2.

From what I understand the best way to get a Cat 1 is to do exactly what you have done. We were told to fax a request to inventory control at DCL. When DCL opens the dates for the cruises, inventory control will fill all faxed request first and then release what is left over to everyone else. We have a Cat 1 booked for April 10th this year but got lucky getting it. We had a cruise booked for March 20th and had to cancel that one so we started looking for what was available. Allseas travel had a Cat 1 available for the April date so we took that one. All the suites on the ship sell out fast so the best thing is to send in your request and then keep your fingers crossed.
