Hello!

I want to finally finish decorating DD's (6) room. I've seen the "canopies" that they've sold for prices I don't want to pay at the Disney Store online, and I would like to hang some tulle above her bed that would cascade down and hang behind her headboard. I've been thinking about a lot of ideas, but they've just stayed ideas.

So, I need some help (and motivation!) to get this project finished!

Thanks in advance...

Behind my daughters bed, where her head Board would be we have purple tulle Draped using curtain clips. The have a clip attached to a round hoop (I've seen em at Wal-mart) We just cliped them on to nails and pulled the tulle through the hoops so it kinda swags in the center. Looks really cute. If you could fasten them to the ceiling you could probably get it to drape over the bed like a canopy.

Could you suspend an embroidery hoop from the ceiling using screw hooks. Then attach the tulle to the embroidery hoop however you'd like (hot glue would be easy). From there you can drape it however you'd like around the bed.

I helped my friend do her DD's room a couple of years ago and what we did was use a painted dowel hung with two eye hooks in the ceiling above the center of her bed, so the tulle came out about 2 feet from the wall. Then we used eye hools again on the wall at the head of her bed on either side of the headboard, right about at the height of the headboard. In those we threaded ribbons to tie the tulle back. We added some silk daisies with hot glue to the tip of the dowel and to the tie back ribbons.

I hope that made sense!

Sorry that I didn't respond sooner to your posts, but I hardly had any free time for the computer because of Christmas!

Anyway, thanks for your replies. They were very helpful and I will use them. Plus they're simple to do! Yay!

Who knows if they still have any left, but I'll have my parents check out
Big Lots (we don't have one here) to look for the Tink one.

Thanks again!!!! And Happy New Year!

When we did it for DD, we did a "fairy get away" over her bed:

take one Dollar Tree hula hoop ($1)
take one set of window drapes (light or sheer...we did frilly pink) (free in closet, but you could get at yardsale, etc)
add a couple lines of silk flowers (also from Dollar tree...$1/each)
and fishing line (free from garage)

Pull the tape off the hoop and that's where the connector is...slides apart easily. Thread curtains on hoop. Hot glue the flower lines around top and draping down. Use fishing line to tie around hoop and then attach to ceiling.

We used a curtain set w/two frilly panels and a valance piece so the two panels were the back two thirds while the valance was the front so there was a natural entry point.

Thanks again for all of your ideas! I was just about going to purchase everything to make something using your ideas, and happened to go into the Disney Store. They have a new Tink tulle "canopy" which is adorable, yet I'm not sure if I want to spend $34.00 on it. Then again, to get all the supplies and actually do it... We'll see. It will be fun! I need to re-do her draperies since they keep on falling down, so maybe I'll do something for that at the same time, as well.
