Hi!
We'd like to take our nephews (11 and 13) to Disney and would like recommendations for a GREAT hotel that will meet both their needs and adult needs! I'm a Disneyland veteran and would like to consider Disney hotels as well as the other area hotels. I'd renew an Annual Pass if needed. In the past, I've stayed at the Fairfield Inn, the Grand Californian and the Marriott nearby.

  • We expect to walk to the park, as we won't rent a car. We'd need a suite, with room for three adults in two beds and twins or sleeping bag space for the kids.
  • We don't want to pay a mint, but need the hotel to be worth the trip.
  • We want the hotel to provide some respite from the park madness, if possible.
  • We'd like a pool area that gives the kids room to swim (not just toddler areas!)
What advice do you have for us?

Thanks in advance!
Ray

I'd suggest Paradise Pier. They have a fun water slide and an actual pool - normal sized not huge. You can also see the fireworks well from the pool deck (3rd floor of hotel). I would also ask for a room on the 3rd floor - on the pool side. In those rooms you get a patio area outside your room. You could all fit in one room, they have 2 queen beds and sofa that pulls out. But you might want adjoining rooms - not sure if they have suites.

My 16 year-old loved PPH. It was Disney enough, without feeling like it was aimed at little kids. The whole beachy theme really appealed to us. The walk is easy, especially if you cut thru the Grand Californian - if you've stayed there you know how close PPH is.

I really think it's a great hotel for kids that age.

I would recommend the Desert Inn and Suites they have affordable suites that could accommodate your party. That is why I stay there 6 adults 1 child and 1 infant.
They have pool not anything special with a viewing deck for the fireworks.
Yes the PPH is nicer but you can not beat the price of the DI&S.

I suggest Disney's Polynesian! We just got back with my 11 and 12 year old sons. We stayed a week. Location, location, location!! Love taking the boat to the magic kingdom and the rooms are nice and big! Also, they have a coffee place right in resort which is hard to come by.

The OP is inquiring about hotels at Disneyland, not WDW. :-)

I would suggest either:

1: Staybridge Suites on Manchester...Nice 1 or 2 bedroom suites, lage pool area and provide breakfast with waffles and hot items daily plus Sun-Thur they have light dinner/drink receptions with wine and beer too! They also have free laundry facility.

2. Residence Inn Garden Grove...Many of the same as above, no free laundry but they have kid suites that give them their own bathroom, tv/vcr and bunk beds. They have living area and full kitchens with dishwasher, full stove/oven,micro and full size fridge. Can also use grills outside of both hotels.

3. For walking distance, I would suggest the Desert inn suites or HOJO. Both have rooms that accomodate sleeping arrangments. HoJo has the new pirate theme room. Have not stayed at either of the two but do know that they get great reviews.
