need hollywood advice

can someone suggest a good hotel on or near hollywood blvd. in lieu of that are there any good sites for someone who is going to tour that area. the only one i have come up with so far is citypass.

the hollywood rennaissance is excellent.

Renaissance is the best, Roosevelt is good but the rooms are small, Comfort Suites Highland is okay but the pool is tiny, the Universal Sheraton and the Universal Hilton are fine and just a quick subway ride from hollywood Boulevard.
Hollywood itself is still kinda gritty and rough around the edges. I wouldn't stay there with a family, it's not a "vacation" spot.

on trip advisor, they have the Los Angeles forums section where you can read lots of frequently asked questions about the area.
