we just returned from Mexico where I purchased the much needed rafia beach hat. Well it did not especially enjoy the return trip in the suitcase, probably shouldn't have put it in there, but I hate dragging all kinds of stuff around. Anyway is there any way to fix it up, steam? stuff it with paper, something like that. The top of the crown is a bit dented and the brim doesn't stay up where it is supposed to turn up near the edge.

thanks

mexico was beautiful btw, riveria maya, very nice people, you couldn't tell on the resort property that there had been a hurricane 4 months ago, off property yes there was plenty of evidence still around, but on property they have done a wonderful repair job

I have no advice for your hat but I was interesed in where you stayed. We are going to the Iberostar- Del Mar in June. Any tips? Glad you had a nice time.

we stayed at the iberostar paraiso del mar

it was awesome, we really enjoyed ourselves.

You should bring:

beach shoes, there are rocks in the water

sun screen, it is expensive in the gift shop, stuff for if you get burned as well

camera, we didn't have the best luck with the disposables we bought (kodak-go figure) after our camera died on the way down.

wrap, everyone walks around all day in their suit it is nice to have a wrap to throw on to go eat.

the blow dryer they have is a bit strange it works but if you use one a lot you will wish you had your own.

lots of ones, they had a hard time exchanging 20's for smaller bills at the lobby

we had the best meal at the brazilian restaurant, recommend it highly.

bring "go out" sandles, but maybe more than one pair, all the ladies were unhappy to keep using the same heels and walk so much

beach bag is very helpful, some brought insulated cups for drinks but I got along fine without it

we took the mayan adventure snorkel tour, we had never been snorkeling and were very happy with this tour and the guide (Jesus), if you are a frequent snorkeler it may be too tame for you, but otherwise we loved it.

we went into playa del carmen to shop, took the bus, it was a bit of a mad house getting back, there was no organized line and people were a bit snippy about the whole deal but we got back so...

we only sorta liked the japanese restaurant, the food was okay but there was no show involved, we think our chef was new, and the chairs had no backs

the tropical was kind of so-so as well, food overall was fine, not spectacular you've never eaten so well, but not awful either, there was always plenty to choose from, you won't go hungry, my DH says don't eat 2 hotdogs at one time.

thanks for the info. Funny how it's the same place. Hope you get help with your hat :)
