Need help with Midwest Express

I thought I would turn to my Dis friends for a little help to see if there is anything I can do. Here is the problem. We are traveling to WDW in Dec. Flights were very expensive in the early part of the summer ($278) usually ($210ish) so in July when the flights went down to ($245) I booked. I just received an e-mail from Midwest this morning and our fare booked online is now ($158) This is almost unheard of in our area. I am sick. The terms say you can not adjust on previously booked flights and there is a($50) change fee to rebook. Is there anything anyone can think of to get this flight, or do I just have to suck it up and deal with it. I am really having a hard time with with a ($90) price difference.

I booked with them today...the prices are better than they have been for sure, but they are a bit more from Kansas City and our return flight is $150 for that alone because it is on a Sunday and we are coming home from Ft. Lauderdale instead of Orlando. I would recommend you call and talk to them....it never hurts to ask!!! If you get any kind of response from them post and let us know what they say. Well...at least you could save $40 by paying the change fee and rebooking....but I would be VERY sure that the flight you wanted was still available for your dates before cancelling what you have already booked.

If not just chalk it up to experience and next time know when to bite. Don't beat yourself up over it. Buying airline tickets is a real gamble (unless you fly SW and can change without penalty). It could just as easily gone the other way....you could have waited and prices could have gone up $90 and the flights you wanted might not have been available.

My rule of thumb for buying tickets to/from MCO is buy early if you need to fly in and/or out on weekends or at holiday times....those dates seem to book very quickly and even if fares go down seats on prime weekend flights may not be available. If we are flying midweek at a nonholiday time then I am much more willing to "wait it out"....I think conventional wisdom says 60 to 90 days prior to departure is usually the best for snagging low fares

If you are travelling during busy times in Dec I would bet my mickey ears that you could not get the cheap fares anyways... if you are travelling during the first week or 2 of Dec you might try rebooking and eat the $50 change fee to still save a little $$....but check and see if the cheap fares are available for your dates/times. If not you can feel smug that you did the right thing anyways!!

We only fly from Milwaukee to Orlando on Midwest Express. If they haven't changed the policy, you may be able to get a "credit certificate" for the difference between the fare you already paid and the new fare. It was usually good for booking another flight in a year. (Another good reason to go back to WDW) Just call the reservation center and ask- You may be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks all, for the advice. As one of the posters said I think I will just have to pack this one away as experience. They will not issue a credit voucher for this fare.(They no longer do credit vouchers). I am less than 90days out and going in mid Dec. I just didn't think I could/should wait this long to book airfare. I do hope other could take advantage of this great deal.

WHAT!!! No more credit vouchers!!!

This happened to us last Nov and I recieve credit vouchers. Granted it was a total PIA to use thembut we did. I would call back and try again what do you have to lose.

I personally want to thank you for bringing this forward. I am in th eprocess of booking for FEB. The thought being if fares dropped I could use the voucher next Nov.. so much for MWE. I'll now for sure be driving to MDW and taking SWA>
