Need help with holding account

We are scheduled to leave for HHI on Sunday but we may need to cancel the trip. We will know for sure this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I know that the points used for the reservation will go into holding and that we can make a reservation with them 60 days out. We currently have a reservation for WDW at the end of May. My question is can MS reallocate the points used for the May reservation to use the holding points, or can the holding points only be used for a new reservation? I just want to know all my options before I call MS.

If there are still rooms available for your May reservation, then they could re-allocate points. If you can not call and book a new reservation for those dates, they can not reallocate, otherwise it would defeat the purpose of holding status and waitlists. Basically, yes, it has to be a new reservation.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that. Given that our May reservation is during Memorial Day week, I think I better plan on not being able to re-allocate the points used.
