My mom has a Christmas Eve party every year for the family. We always make "Finger Foods" We have have hot and cold food. But we are runing out of ideas! Can anyone share there ideas/ thanks!

Mexican sausage cheese dip
sausage balls
cocktail weiner in sauce
pigs in blanket

These are usually the ones that we always use. You may already use them too.

Chicken Fingers (or bite sized chicken and a dipping sauce)
Hot wings
Spinach dip and crackers
Chex Mix
White Trash Mix (the Crispix mix)
Ham Puffs (Pampered Chef Recipe)
Pizza Dip with toasted french bread (another Pampered Chef Recipe)
Tex Mex Chicken Bites (Another PC recipe...LOL)
Dorito Casserole with Salsa chips
Rotel Chili Cheese Dip with chips

There are a lot of recipes in the Pampered Chef books if you have any of those. I often make them as appetizer type things, you can usually make the 'wreath' recipes differently too, so that they are each individual little foods. Or just make the whole wreath or braid and then slice it up and put it out on the platter. The Ham puffs are DELICIOUS as are the Tex Mex Chicken ones.....we always have those.

I don't know what you normally do but do you have a Sam's/Costco/BJ's by you? They have dozens of different frozen 'pickies' - everything you can imagine and the price is appropriate. I just hosted a party for 40 of my Twins Club moms and this is what I always get and they're a huge hit! Very simple to make because you literally just need to cook them and then put on a pretty platter. This year I had:

Mini crab cakes
Pot stickers
Mini egg rolls
Mini quiche
Scallops wrapped in bacon
Mini hot dogs
Spanikopita
Popcorn chicken
Spinach dip in a bread bowl with dippers
Mexican dip with Tostitos scoops
Hummus with an assortment of pitas and bagel chips
Artichoke, garlic & parmasean dip - baked in the oven
Veggie platters
Shrimp cocktail
Fruit platters
Mini cream puffs
Mini egg nog cream puffs
Mini cheesecakes
Cookies
Chocolate fondue with all sorts of dippers
Brownie bites
Nuts
Chocolate covered pretzels

Everything came from Costco this year! I did have a couple trays of food too (penne vodka and chicken francese) along with salad and rolls but I was having 40 moms - hungry to eat anything that didn't involve having to cut up someone else's food!!!!

Oh my! Can I get an invite next year? :santa: I'll borrow my 52 year old twin cousins for the day if necessary. :rotfl2: I'm certainly going to check out Costco.

I have a great (and favorite) recipe for wing dip if you want it!

We usually do "finger" food on Christmas Eve and here are some of the items we have.

Layered Mexican Dip with chips
Cheese dip
Cheese and sausage platter
Mini Sub Sandwiches (I get the mini buns at our local deli)
Mini Meatballs in BBQ sauce
Little Beef Smokies in BBQ sauce
Of course, there are relish platters, fruit platters
Veggie Pizza Squares

Just a few more ideas for you to consider.

We always pick up appetizers (or finger foods) from Sams Club for the holidays. This year I also picked up a bunch from Trader Joe's (new to our area).

I have a dip that is always a big hit:

1 block of cream cheese
1 bottle of cocktail sauce
1 or 2 cans of lump crab meat

dump the crab meat on top of cream cheese and then pour the cocktail sauce on top so it runs over and down the side of the cream cheese. Serve with crackers.

Everyone loves it and I usually have to double it.

We do this too and here's some things we have had:

Staples every year:

Mini Ham Biscuits (hey, we're Southern! cut refrigerated biscuits in 1/4s and cook, slice and add small pieces of ham...I usually fry it in a little butter...I know, very Southern!)

BBQ Hotdogs (like cocktail weiners but better and cheaper...I use whatever hotdogs are on sale, cut into bit sized pieces, add BBQ sauce of your choice!...cook on stove till they start to get "fat"...haha)

Chocolate Dipped Pecans...take pecan halves (salted, thank you)...dip in almond bark or chocolate about 1/2 way...let harden on wax paper

Whiskey Sour Punch...a can a frozen limeade thawed, a can of frozen orange-type juice thawed, use one of the empty cans and measure 1 1/2 cans of lemon juice (I use bottled), 2 cans of whiskey, 2 lt spite/7up/gingerale (your choice)...I usually float an ice ring that I make of marachino cherries and water in my bundt cake pan ahead of time...looks pretty and when it melts, cherries are good in the drinks! Yummy!

There are other things we have, but these are the ones I haven't seen mentioned here!

What kind of sauce do you use for the cocktail weiners?

A couple of bottles of BBQ sauce and about 3 of 4 tablespoons of grape jelly. Put in crock pot and let simmer til they are hot through and through.

A big hit especially with the guys.

These are different.

Take whole canned jalapeno peppers, cut in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membrane. Stuff with pimento cheese (I make my own - grated cheese, jar of pimentos undrained, and mayo) or tuna salad.

You can soak the jalapenos to make this less hot. It is best to wear gloves when working with them. I used an industrial sized can of them one time (that big gallon size) and literally got a chemical burn on my hand from reaching down into the can.

The mayo in the pimento or tuna really cuts down on the heat too.

Wasn't there an appetizer thread on here not too long ago? There were GREAT ideas on it.

Crabbies

These are really yummy! And you can freeze ahead and hest directly from the freezer.

English Muffins
Crab meat
Cheez Whiz or spreadable cheddar cheese

Can't think of the recipe right off the top of my head, but I got it from allrecipes.com. Everytime I make it everyone loves it and wants the recipe.

i wrap whole water chesnuts in half slices of bacon. secure w/ toothpicks and throw in the oven for an hour or until crispy. sooooo yummy. so easy. so ALWAYS the first thing gone!

also, spread cream cheese on a plate. pour a jar of jalepeno jelly over the top. serve w/ crackers. voila. our familys favorite dip!

schwan's spinach stuffed mini bread bowls. yum. i buy them for guest, and then i end up eating them for lunch while my kids eat mac and cheese instead of saving them!!

puff pastry "pizza"-light, crunchy and good!
pampered chef veggie pizza-cold snack
pot stickers
chili dip
shrimp
danish meatballs

This thread is making me hungry!
For my cookie party, I served

Bacon wrapped water chestnuts
chocolate chip cheeseball with graham crackers
cocktail weinies
chips with velveeta/chili dip
shrimp cocktail
cheese/pepperoni/crackers
last year I got finger sandwiches from sam's club but this year I got a salad from Olive Garden instead :) yum
