I am looking into staying at Cypress Pointe via RCI.
Do I need to request the grand villas or the resort?
Where would you suggest for a large family with sm/med and large age children?
Will they want to be closer to the volcano pool or the turtle pool?
Is it far to walk to the pools if we wanted to go to one or the other?
:confused3
What freebies are included with the room? shampoo, dish soap?
Is there a shuttle that takes you to WDW?
Can I get discount tickets at Cypress Pointe for WDW or Seaworld?
pirate:
How close is a grocery store, walmart, target from the resort?
How about the build a bear workshop? how close is that?

Answers to any or all of the questions would be greatly appreciated! Add any other useful input!

The grande villas are slightly larger but with less features in the units. They also haven't been recently renovated. But if you want to sleep ten you need a 3 br in the GV - CPR sleeps 8 maximum. We prefer CPR as most of the activities revolve around the clubhouse.

Literally the two resorts are across a small street from each other. 3 minute walk tops. Our kids always prefer the Volcano pool. It is the largest of the three pools. There are starter baskets of shampoo, conditioner, soaps in each of the three baths. The kitchen gets a small liquid dish soap, dishwasher pack and laundry soap. If you plan to do more than one load of dishes and laundry you'll need more of those items.

There is transportation offered but there is a fee. We prefer using a rental car. They offer discount tickets in the lobby of the Clubhouse.

Winn Dixie is across the street on one side of the resort. Again 3-4 minute walk. Goodings is in the Crossroads plaza 3/4 mile. Publix at 535 & 192 - 3.5 miles. Both Walmart and Target are nearby. Walmart about 3 miles up 535 - Target another 1.5 miles on 192. I don't know where the closest build a bear is. If there is one in Downtown Disney thats 1 mile away.

I do know that the Resort is Gold Crown while the Grand Villas are Silver or RID under old system. I have not stayed at either, but have heard nothing but good things about the resort. Are you a RCI Points or Weeks member. If you are a weeks member try to get the resort, it's not costing anymore. If you are a points member, the grand villas require less points.

When you speak to RCI, I assume you will have to specify which you prefer because they are two different resorts under RCI

I'm not sure how your timeshare works, but you might consider looking at Hotelkingdom.com for the cash price at CP/CPGV. It aboslutely wouldn't make sense for me to use points with the 3 BR at about $140 a night.

Good luck with your decision! We are staying there next month, and I can't wait!

Thank you all for your input!!! Getting these little questions answered maked a BIG difference!
Now my dillema is adding onto my week, a day before and a day after... should I look at a nearby cheapie hotel... It's basically only to sleep in so that I could get the lowest airfare possible.... :teacher:
Thanks!!

I have stayed at cypress pointe twice. It's great. But it was my parents time share so I don't even know what they paid. The kids loved the volcano pool. But the buildings are older there. It is very centrally located to everything. It's not even that far to Univeral if you decide to go there too. Good luck finding air fare. Have a great trip.

I'm not sure what point system you are referring to, but I am a RCI Points member and it wouldn't come anywhere near $140 a night for us to stay there when available. That being said, it just depends on how much your maint. fees are to break down the actual price.
