My friend just called and she needs help to tell if this bag is real or fake. She is talking with someone off Ebay about a Louis Vitton Alma handbag. The lady says she bought it off ELuxury website. Has the receipt and says it's real. But my friend's just not sure. Does anyone know what she can look for to see if it's real or not. The bag retails for around $700, the lady bought it for $520 and will sell it for $300. My friend just don't want to get taken for $300 when she can get a fake cheaper.;)

Thanks for any help you can offer!!:teeth:

Yiieee..I wouldn't do it...even the fakes can come with very real-looking "authenticity cards" etc. You need to see it...stitching , feel, quality of the emblem...and even then some of the fakes can be quite good too these days...(Louis Vuitton among others are so heavily knocked off)

...anyway, not sure I would do it sight unseen.

Thanks guys...I'll forward this to her!:D

Well, seeing as how Tanya is the "Louis Vuitton" expert, here's what she had to say:

(this is taken from messenger)

JoNo says:
for around $300 for an alma
PrincessTanyuhKayPoo says:
well that makes it really hard b/c the pictures could be of a real bag but then the seller can send a fake
JoNo says:
ok
PrincessTanyuhKayPoo says:
for LV, the small tags always have the name on them, so does the metal locket
JoNo says:
anything else?
PrincessTanyuhKayPoo says:
umm those are the easiest...

so there ya go! Hopes this helps

If it's real...would it be made in Paris, France or USA? Or are these bags made in both places?

Also...she says she has seen bags with serial numbers that start SD and M. Does anyone know the difference is?

Thanks!:D

I know someone personally who is selling fakes, and she does not put the "real name". She puts it under micellaneous. She gets them from China. I believe she sells them for $60 and under.
Buyer beware!

Depends on what line it is.... If you want to, PM me the ebay link & I'll check it out myself & tell you what I think, ok?

If the bag is monogrammed, the LV logo will not be cut off at the seams. Other designs may be, but not the LV.

Manda's is actually one of the easiest hints.
Ask for photos of all the seams and if the LV is in the seam it is a FAKE!

One of the easiest and the only one I actually know! LoL
Sometimes fakes are VERY obvious, but I know a girl who spent $400 on a fake murakami that looked exact.

there are some fakes that look really good. DH brought a bag into a Louis Vuitton store and they said they thought it was a fake, because it felt a little different but even they weren't positive.
