Need help troubleshooting kid's portable dvd...please

Just gave DD16 the Kawasaki kid's portable 3.5 inch screen dvd I bought from Target a month or two ago. She charged the battery, and tried a few different dvds. All of them are giving her a disc error- I think it might be invalid disk or something. It only takes Region 1 dvds, which are the ones we tried in there. I don't know if I can locate the receipt. Does anyone have any tips? DH tried to do a "factory reset" as per a website, but it didn't help.

If you paid by credit card, and it is within the 90 day return policy, you can bring the credit card you used at Target, and you can get your refund.
