I'm planning a WDW trip in Feb for my DD 16th B'day. I want to do something special for her Birthday and I'm not sure what to do. I know we will go to City Hall at the Magic Kingdom and get a B'day pin. We have already done the cruises so I don't want to do those again. I'm looking for something really special. I would be interested in how others have celebrated special occasions at WDW.

What a great birthday to celebrate at WDW! We plan on doing the same thing for our daughter's 16th in December, 2005. Try Gifts of a Lifetime http://www.giftsofalifetime.com/

They created a very special event for our daughter's 13th birthday and my husband used them for my 50th at WDW.

Good Luck!

I had made arrangements for dinner at the castle for my DD's 16th and they did make a nice fuss. We also had 16 Pink roses in the room when we checked in and a small cake and ballons. I had it arranged before we left and I was directed to a help line at the resort. My DD is now going to turn 21 so this was several years ago. I think things have changed but I would call the resort guest services and see if they can give you a phone number to start with. Good Luck and have an great trip. The time passes way to quickly.

Collect all the birthday buttons from all the parks. Last time I went they were different at AK and EPCOT. MK and MGM had the same design. Definately do something to create your own magic for her b-day. Disney will do somethings, but you shouldn't count on them to make your day.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and suggestions. I have contacted gifts of a lifetime and am waiting for their response. I didn't know that the parks have different B'day pins, we will make sure to hit all the parks.

If anyone else has any suggestions please don't hesitate to share.

Thanks again,

Take her somewhere REALLY special for dinner and be sure to let EVERYONE know from when you make the PS - to your waitstaff that it's a sweet 16. :)

I planned a surprise trip this past October to celebrate my DD Sweet 16th Birthday. It was so cool and something she will never, ever forget.

The birthday buttons alone were enough to make her smile endlessly. So many people stopped her, sang to her, etc. She sometimes did not know who to thank. She would just hear "Happy Birthday." She was allowed to be the first to board the boat at WL by the captain because it was her "special day" and they sang to her as she boarded. Early one morning on the way to MK (she's not a morning person and half asleep), the passengers out of know where started singing to her.

Tell a CM at the park it's your DD's birthday. At a store in Frontierland they asked if Goofy wished her HB. They picked up the phone and dialed a number and handed the phone to her. She was stunned. She actually blushed. I think it's something "I will" remember for years to come.

I used Pixie Gifts (Beth) and ordered a bunch of things for her. They will customize a basket, cake, balloons, etc. for her to be in her room upon check in. I ordered a Tinkerbell cake (her fav), some t-shirts, night shirts, candies, and all sorts of goodies. I included Disney dollars so she could pick out a few special things on her own. She was speechless when she saw everything.

I agree on the special dinner. We were there for MNSSHP so I did PS at LTT in MK and she was floored when they called her by name. She had no idea I told them when I called it was her BD. They had a special table for us with streamers, confetti, etc. It was great. The characters knew by the streamers it was a special ocassion and they really spent a lot of time with her. You can even order cakes at most restaurants. The Plaza Rest. gives the BD guest a cupcake with a single candle and sing! LTT--the whole gang of CM's came out and sang at the end of our meal. It was priceless.

I would recommend ordering her a Cinderella's slipper dessert from the GF. It has to be eaten at GF (can't be shipped to another resort). I just made PS at GF Cafe and that's all we had was two slippers. You do have to order them in advance. Well worth it. Just another way to "feel special."

I honestly cannot think of a better way to celebrate her 16th Birthday. Truly WDW made it so very special and created lifelong memories for both of us.

Have fun planning!

Michele

I just read an idea on Deb's newsletter that a Dad did for his DD's birthday that I thought was very cute.

He made a sigh that said " I am ** today", in your case, 16. Then when they were in the park, restaurants, etc, he held it over her head without her seeing it. Now granted, this would be harder to do with a teenager, but his family got alot of laughs out of it as the CMs would tell his child happy birthday and she was so surprised they knew.

Can Pixie Gifts actually have the basket in the room upon check in? Or do they have to wait until the person has already checked in and then deliver?

I'm planning to take my DS on the Segway Tour the morning of his 16th birthday ! - he's been wanting to ride one since the day they were first shown on the news! :smooth:

CoolDisneyCat - thanks for the sign suggestion!! I know my DS won't wear the pins - I'm going to try this and see how long it takes for him to figure out how everyone knows it's his birthday !!!;)

Pixie Gifts can definitely have your gift in your room waiting for you upon arrival if you are staying concierge in any of the resorts. Now--I was able to have a gift waiting in our room at Coronado Springs in October. I was told it really depends on which resort. I called the resort and explained my reason for wanting it in the room upon check in. Now things could have changed, etc. I would just contact Pixie Gifts and verify what they can do. I cannot recommend them enough. I've used them twice to have specialized gifts awaiting on our arrival. They have always exceeded my expectations. As well, they worked very closely with me to ensure I picked the items I truly wanted.

The Grand Floridian has a SPA... how about a facial or manicure/pedicure? They also have a wonderful Garden View TEA in the Grand Floridian from 2 to 4 PM....

At the Magic Kingdom for a reasonable fee, the barbers will "DO" your daughters hair and sprinkle it with pixie dust and Mickey Confetti... you could bring a small rhinestone tiara to put in her hair so she has a princess "DO"!

A special dinner at Victoria and Alberts or perhaps at the California Grill during WISHES fireworks show....

For $30 for a party of 4 you can reserve a 30 minute carriage ride at Port Orleans or Fort Wilderness. I know WL does sleigh rides during the holidays, so maybe they also offer them. Call and check...
