Hi All. This is my first time posting. I just love it here! I have learned so much just on my first few days. Everyone seems so friendly and helpful. I don't know if this is the right forum to post my question so forgive me is it's not.

We just got invited to go on a trip to the Orlando area in Jan. 2004. Our actual destination is Bartow. But we are willing to stay closer to Orlando. Does anyone know of any accomodations out that way. It's off of hwy 27. Being this is the Budget forum;) we are looking for very reasonable priced places to stay.

Now for WDW. We only are planning to go to MK for 1 day. Being this is a short notice trip, the funds are not where we would like them to be. DD is 3 and 1/2 and talks about WDW all the time so thought we at least have to go there. Don't get me wrong DH and I are just as excited to go!

If anyone has any thoughts on how to make this short little trip cheap and fun, please!!! give me your ideas!

Also, is there any certain day out of the week that you find to be less crowded?

Thank you so much for listening to me ramble. I'm driving myself crazy looking at all the options not knowing which way to go.

Thanks
Julie

If you only have 1 day then definitly take your little one to MK. Since you plan to stay off site Do NOT go to MK on Sunday or Friday as those are the early entry days and will most likely be more crowded. Allow enough time to get to MK from your offsite hotel. Once you park in the lot you will have to take the boat or monorail over to MK. I would try to arrive early at park opening and if possible return to your hotel for a nap in the afternoon. If you cannot go to your hotel make a PS for a sit down meal midday so that you will have some quiet time. Whatever you do do not over plan your day. You will not even come close to seeing it all. Just enjoy what you get to, and know this is just the appitizer for a longer trip!

There are specials for Jan that you can book now until Dec 29. The value resorts are about $55 per night.

The first time I took my 2 oldest kiddos it was just a 1 day trip to MK. My DS had so much fun he still talks about it and can't wait to go back. My DD was only a baby then so she doesn't remember it. We were lucky to be able to stay at my aunt & uncle's house, they live about 2 hours from Disney. We ate breakfast at their house, went to Disney, ate a relatively inexpensive meal at a counter service place then ate dinner on the way home at a fast food place. The whole day didn't cost much ($50 admission, both kids were under 3 & free, $20 lunch, $30 little fun toys).

We went on a Tues or Wed, I can't recall but it was nice and not too crowded. I was worried about Spring Breakers but the park was pleasant. We did sit down and "rest" on benches throughout the day. People watching is part of the whole Disney experience. DS never got tired and DD slept in the Baby Bjorn part of the day.

Of course since that day DS & I are hooked and can't get enough. When we head back in July my DD (4) will actually be old enough to remember but kiddo #3 will just be 2 so we'll see how much he remembers.

thanks for your replys!! There are so many options. We are going to just love watching our DD on her first trip!
