I just changed our 2017 WDW from March to January 21-30. Our ADR window starts July 25!! I'm not ready!! Lol! I haven't even started looking at meals yet. We are going to be on the dining plan. It will be me, hubby, DS12, DD9, DS7, and DD3. We haven't been to WDW on the dining plan since 2010. I'm pretty sure there have been some changes since then. Lol! We love character meals, but we'd like to try some other fun meals as well. And I REALLY want to get the most out of the dining plan. Thank you all for helping me!!!

Where are you staying? Will you have a rental car? How many park days are you doing? Which dining plan are you doing?
(I promise there is a point to these questions..)

We are flying in and will not have a rental. We are staying at ASMu Family Suite for 9 nights. We have 8 day park tickets, no park hoppers. We are on the regular dining plan. Thanks!!

For atmosphere I vote Sci Fi at DHS, so you & the hubs can have a quiet moment sitting together in the car with the kids in their own seats:) We are also trying Minnie's Holiday Dine with the Fantasmic package this year...& if River of Light ever opens will try to get a dining package there. At MK we enjoy BOG pre-park opening...enjoy your trip!

We don't have kids but places we enjoy that are TS are:

WCC at WL for breakfast. They have antics and we always have a great time.
Trail's End Buffet at FW for breakfast.
Boma at AKL for either breakfast or dinner. It is a great buffet for either meal and you can see the savannahs before or after.
Beaches and Cream at the BC for lunch. Great sandwiches and ice cream but it is small.

MK - CP character buffet for breakfast, LTT for lunch, Tony's Dinner, and BOG dinner.
Epcot - CR lunch or dinner, Tutto lunch, Chefs dinner, and Le Celler dinner.
DHS - 50's PTC for dinner, HBD for either lunch or dinner, and Sci Fi for lunch.
AK - TH character buffet for breakfast and Rainforest Cafe for lunch.

Based on that info, some suggestions:

Whatever day you aren't going to a park: character dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Budget in for Uber or cab for easiest transportation. Or use 2TS credits and do one of the dinner shows/events at Fort Wilderness or Poly.

Magic Kingdom ideas:
Crystal Palace breakfast
Be Our Guest dinner
Be Our Guest lunch (qs)

Epcot:
Garden Grill dinner (plan around your Soarin fast pass)
Askerhaus breakfast (plan it around your Frozen fast pass)
Biergarten dinner (not character, but has entertainment)

Hollywood Studios:
Sci-Fi Diner
Prime Time Cafe

Animal Kingdom:
Tusker House, any meal (I love breakfast there)
Yak n Yeti (not character, no entertainment but I have never had a bad meal there)

You could also take a break during a Magic Kingdom day and go to Ohana. Characters from Lilo and Stitch for breakfast, no characters but good food and some entertainment for kids at dinner. Easy to get to from MK (monorail or little ferry boat).

You could take a break during your DHS or Epcot day and go to Cape May a Cafe (character buffet) at Yacht/Beach.

Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge is another popular choice. Not character but suppose to be good food.

Hope that helps!!

I like PP list but one point. Cape May Cafe at BC only has characters at breakfast, not dinner. It is a clam bake themed buffet for dinner

Thank you all for the suggestions! Here's my list so far based on what we've done in the past and adding a couple we've not done yet:

O'hana - Dinner (new to us)
Sci Fi - lunch or dinner (also new to us)
CP - lunch (family favorite)
Either 1900 Park or CRT
Chef Mickey's

And I'm thinking about adding one of the dinner shows our first night. We've not been to any of them. So I still need one or two more depending on if I do CRT or not.
