So I sent my planner an email with a lot of questions. This is the question I asked, and the answer she gave me.

Is there a trade-in value on giving up the included photography album with the prints to get the high-resolution disk for a discounted price?

I saw your other email regarding Randy Chapman and wanted to let you know that this is only an option if you will be using Disney Photography as your primary. If you will be using Randy you will receive a (20) print 4x6 album and website posting for your Secondary Photo Package.

I may be having a slow moment, but I don't quite understand what she's saying. I haven't told Randy he was a primary or a secondary. What's the difference?:confused3 Sounds like I should tell him that he's the secondary, or I can't get the disk discounted for the trade-in of the album.

Please help!!! I haven't sent my form back to Randy, so if I need to put this info on there, I'd really like to know.

TIA!!

With many outside photographers you need to assure them that they will be your primary photographer before they will draw you up a contract. I think Randy is usually happy to work with the DPS photographers if he is primary photographer, and they are the secondary (photojournalistic) photographer. I am not sure how he would feel if it were the other way around as I think the primary photographer has control.

So if this is the case, I can't trade-in the album and photo website to get my disk discounted?? :confused3

That means I would have to pay the quadrillion dollars for the disk?? :scared1: :rotfl:

Or just don't buy the disk from Disney. Take the album they give you, and get the disk from Randy. I assume you hired Randy because you liked his style, so even if you had both disks, you would probably lean towards using Randy's pics. Do you really need thousands of wedding pictures?

This is what we did. Since we already had a HR disk from our outside photographer, we just took the album Disney gives with I think 20 images from the DPS photographer. I actually love it! It's a Leather Craftsman album, so top quality and leather bound. We choose our favorite images to put in it and since we didn't want to spend a ton yet on a professional album through our outside photographer, we still get one. Plus it's decked out in Disney which is always fantastic :goodvibes

That's so good to hear!!! We did this to and recently faxed in our selections for our 20 print album. Now I can't wait to get it back.

To the OP, I had Randy as our primary photographer and he will only be the primary on the shoot. He includes the His Res disc with the package, we actually got 4 discs back. DFAP was our secondary photographer and we were very happy with the pics from him as well but they were no where as near good as Randy's.

Ditto! :thumbsup2

This is all very good to hear. We have decided to just get in the included album and get Randy's disk. I wanted the Disney album anyway, but was willing to give it up to get the disk for a lower price. All that was before we decided to use Randy though. Now that we have him, it seems pointless.

Thanks for all the help!!

We are 18 month out from an Escape Wedding and the only thing I have guaranteed at the moment is Randy. His photos are so good that I would even give up the Disney photographer if need be ( still want that Disney Album though even if theres nothing in it!)

Just wondering how you have organised booking Randy so far ahead of your date being locked in at the 8 month mark? I'm an Escape bride too and would love to use Randy but was concerned about making a booking or paying a deposit in case I can't secure my chosen date.

Thanks! :goodvibes

We hope to get married at the Yatch Club Gazebo which I dont think is all that popular (not even sure if it is a Wishes venue) so I have taken a chance with my date and paid a deposit to Randy. He is aware it is an Escape wedding and will be flexible as far as possible if we have to change our date.

Randy totally understands Disney so is happy to take booking before you confirm your date and is happy to change if you can't get the date you want.

Thanks so much! That's great to hear. We're still about 20 months away from our actual wedding so I'm probably being a bit premature but the sooner I can get things organised it's one less thing to worry about! Nice to see some other international brides too :thumbsup2

I think the Yacht Club Gazebo will be a beautiful location (we're still undecided). I haven't seen many photos from weddings there which is a shame because I'd love to see what it looks like on the day.

(oh and apologies to the OP for hijacking your thread!)

We're having a VR next month and plan to use Disney photographers. We upgraded to the Cinderella "D" package (extra $750) and will be getting more photos, as well as the "high res DVD". Is this the DVD that most brides wait to purchase for less - that you are talking about? or is there another photo package?

Just trying to be a little less confused. :upsidedow

Thanks!
