Need help - MASSIVE amounts of weight to lose

Hey Sistahs!

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I was able to get some exercise in this week which I am happy about. Today I am really tired and my foot is killing me but I have to push through!

I have been helping my niece research how our family came to Pittsburgh for a school project. It is pretty interesting but I think it is a bit of an ambitious project for a third grader! They have to do a story book or story board with pictures, timelines and essays. Crazy!

Hope everyone is having a great day and have a great weekend!

Michele-I got you beat!! My daughter has 2 projects to do. First one is on sound-you have to make a musical instrument that makes at least 2 sounds and write a description of how you made it and what the sounds are:scared1: Then for her April book report, she has to read a biography and write whole packet of stuff on it. THEN she has to dress up as that person and do a presentation to the class. The sound project is due on the 11th, the biography on May 1st. And she too is in 3rd grade. Lord help me, I may take the bridge soon.:sad2:

Good Morning, Sistahs!

Vern - Your daughter's assignments are crazy!!! I thought Shawna's were bad but building a musical instrument and writing a book report and having to dress up for a presentation takes the cake! I don't ever recall having to do such ambitious projects in third grade! We worked all night Friday on the project and it is finished! I learned a lot about my family but it was just mentally exhausting!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Have a great day!

Yes Michele it is crazy. The musical instrument is done (thankfully), now we have to work on the biography. She is doing Clara Barton, founder of the Red Cross. Finding a period costume should be easy, right???:lmao: Next week is spring break, I am hoping that we don't get a pile of work to do then too. DD is doing camp at Tae Kwon Do all next week, so it's not like I am home all day with her to work on all this stuff.

I seem to keep losing and gaining the same couple pounds, but I am determined in my mission. All the running and dog walking should amount to some loss, but I have to do better with eating on the weekends. Seems like it would be easier, but it isn't. I'll keep plugging along.

Hope all is well with everyone!!

Just click on the ticker and it should take you to Ticker Factory where you can update it. You do not have to copy and paste the code again, it should update automatically-you will have to refresh the page to see the new info though. Hope this helps!!

And by the way -great job this week!!!:cheer2:

hi

any one got any idea why my ticker isnt showing all of it

it shows up on the preview post but not once i submit it :confused3

The signature is too big. Try putting the 2 DIS banners next to each other and the ticker should show up. To get the two next to each other just don't leave any space between them. Hopefully that works for you!

Hey Sistahs!

How is everyone doing?

Vern - I feel you girl. I have been losing and gaining those same few pounds as well! We just have to stick with it and encourage one another to keep on the straight and narrow! I know we can do this and we are worth it!

Madhouse - 4 lbs! That is awesome! Great job and keep up the great work!

Well last night I did something I have never done before. I started running for exercise. I am by no means a runner but I would eventually like to get in shape to the point where I can run a 5k. I walked then ran and when I got winded I would start walking again and then pick it back up with the running. I did this for thirty minutes in our cemetary and up some hills to boot and burned 686 calories! I am so proud of myself!

Well have a great day Sistahs!

Michele

Good Friday Morning, Sistahs!

Well I went for a "run" again last night and I burned over 700 calories! :cool1: I can't wait until tomorrow to try it again!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Michele

I'm here - panting away - I just had my personal best on the treadmill 1 mile in 22 minutes and 9 seconds. Every day I am trying to push harder and harder. I am really proud of myself considering that last month I felt like I was going to pass out after 5 minutes. My personal best by the end of March was .544 miles in 13 minutes and 3 seconds so I am really improving. First I was just trying to make 20 minutes- now I am going for a mile which I did today - now I will try and get that mile in the least amount of time hopefully by the end of April I can do it in 20 minutes flat.

Great job on the weight loss!

Hello! I'm new. Been a member on the CB and DCL areas for a while.

I started a new job recently and had to get a physical. My cholesterol was crazy!

I decided rather than trying drugs, I'd try excercise and food changes.

I would go to McDonald's and order two sandwiches (maybe a big mac and a quarter pounder with EXTRA mayo AND cheese), fries, a "diet" soda, and a hot fudge sundae. UGH!

Sooooooo! Anyhoo.....I started! It has been 29 days and I have lost 14 pounds! I am so excited! I think the part that has made it easier for me is that I know that I am making a change for my cholesterol because I don't want to have a heart attack. Not because I want to fit into my old jeans (of course I do). Diets NEVER work for me. I always quit. So it's soooo nice to have something other than weight as a motivator. The weight loss is an amazing added bonus!

I have completely overhauled how I buy groceries, how I eat out, etc. I just want to be able to keep it up. FOREVER!

Instead of running, which I HATE, I do more strenuous activities around the house that I wouldn't have done before such as cleaning the pool or mowing the lawn. I take the stairs instead of the elevator, and I clean the house more often. Not only is is working, but I also feel like I am accomplishing something. I feel proud of myself.

What a great thread.

14 pounds down........80 pounds to go!!!!

I just found this thread and feel like I have come home. Let me say - if I lose 100 pounds, I still feel like I have 50 or more to lose. I haven't gotten to read the entire thread yet, but I'm in.

I am a comfort/stress eater. I also eat when I'm bored. And I use food as a reward. In fact, I just finished a burger and a shake for "surviving" a stressful day. I never exercise. I want to and plan to, but then make excused not to.

So, I don't know a lot, but I'm in. I'll be any kind of support for anyone, be a "diet" or "exercise" buddy on line, anything.
