Need help - MASSIVE amounts of weight to lose

:welcome: FSUDisneyGirl!!! We are glad to have you here with us. Post up any time-success or failure, we are right here with you. Remember, this is a slow process and you will have good and bad days. But keep your eyes on the prize (a healthier, happier you!) and you will get there.

Ashley-WOW!!! 75 lbs. You go girl!! How proud you must be! I know what you mean about the knees. I noticed the other day that there are these "wrinkles" around my knees. Rather strange looking. I pointed them out to DH and he says, well you have more muscle on your legs from all the running. Your skin just hasn't caught up yet!!:rotfl2: I notice when I am laying on my back how nice my tummy looks (flat-esque) and think, won't it be great for it to look that way when I am vertical instead of horizontal?

I am still "stuck" even bouncing up a little on the scale. I joined the September WL challenge, and haven't lost a thing, and now I'm in the BL challenge and NADA. ZIP. Zilch. I am okay with not making it to 170 before the trip, as I have lost 42 lbs which ain't too shabby:banana: I did not get overweight overnight, so I can't expect the weight to come off overnight either. It will happen, and as long as I stay with my WOE and exercise, things will work out. (I still beat DH so its okay!:cool1: )

Hope everyone has a great day.

Welcome FSUDisney Girl! Best of luck to you on your weight loss journey!Hopefull now that you have stability in your life you can concentrate on you and dropping those pounds!

Vern - Congrats on the 42 lbs loss! That is awesome! Have a wonderful trip to the World! I'm sure you are so excited! I leave for my trip on Saturday and I can't wait! We want details when you get back!

Well so far this month I haven't done the best. I have been so busy getting things together for my trip I really haven't taken the time to exercise (so far only two days). This weekend I haven't made the best choices when its come to food either . I just have to tell myself that this is a new week and a new week means a fresh start!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Michele

Hey Minnie Sistahs!

Mind if I join ya? Right now, I weigh in at 242 pounds. I've been here for about a year (probably longer!) and I am ready for my weight to go seriously down! I know I am an emotional eater, and the last year included an internship, graduating college, another internship (Disney College Program! :cool1: ) a summer job, and now a "real" teaching job! In the past year I've done many new things and moved almost 7 times!

I now have a fun teaching job, my own apartment, and some stability! I am really ready to start losing weight. I am not doing WW or any other diets (I tried LA Weight Loss last year and it did not work for me) but I did get the Beck diet book...just started reading it yesterday...because I know when I'm sad, or angry, or anything...I EAT!!!

So....if you all don't mind, can I join ya? :yay:

Welcome Erin! I've sooo been where you are. I knew I was overweight and going in the wrong direction, but I had so very much going on that I did not have the mental capacity to deal with one more thing. My sister would try to give me advice, and as much as I really wanted to lose the weight, I just wasn't there mentally yet. Then one day, something gave...not everything, but a couple of those demands fell by the wayside, a couple of stressful situations became less so, and then I could wrap my mind around the process.

Michele--Aruba! :goodvibes Sounds lovely! I haven't done the tropical vacation thing in many, many years....well, my oldest is 12, and when she was 1 we went to Costa Rica. Since then it's pretty much been WDW every 4 years. My in-laws are a 10 hour drive away (16 hours if you drive it with 4 kids and a woman whose bladder has been through pregnancy, labor, and delivery 4 times), so our annual vacation is down to see them in South Texas, a day at the beach at Padre Island while we're there is the only sand we've seen in years! Okay, so one more pound before you leave! You can do it! You know how those plateaus are-- all of a sudden one day it'll end and you'll start losing again.

Ashley-That new banner clippie looks SOOO good on you!!

Michele-Enjoy Aruba!! I have not been there (yet) but an hoping to get there on a cruise at some point in my life.

Hey where have all the rest of the Sistahs gone? Stamp, splash, everyone where are you?? SeaSpray and delilah are over on the BL and exercise threads, but the rest of you seem to have gone *poof* Come back and tell us how you are doing!!

I will probably pop in again tonight to see whats up, but then you won't hear from me until Sun night or Monday!! I'll be livin la vida Disney!!!:woohoo:

Have a great trip! Can't wait to hear all the details!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing great! I wanted to report that my first week was successful. I have gone down 4 pounds. Keep me in your thoughts going into this next week, as my goal is to add in exercise to my weight-loss plan. I'm not a huge fan of exercise... yet!

Pryncesa--way to go on your 4 pound loss! At the risk of throwing my unsolicited 2 cents in...if you're losing consistently, I would not go too strenuously on the exercise just yet. IMHO, I'd wait until you hit a plateau and you are wondering what the heck you could do to start losing again, and then hit the exercise. Otherwise, if you start working out hard now:yay: , when the plateau hits you'll have to bump up your exercise program to the next level. But that's just me....and I'm pretty lazy:upsidedow ! My first 65 pounds came off w/ no exercise, and when things started slooooowwwing down, I added in a (small) workout.

My MOMs group at church started back up for the fall today. I had several people notice how much I've lost--one friend told me I looked "so young!" That's always appreciated when you're 20-19!:goodvibes That same friend asked me if I'd coach her on my program. A couple of ladies suggested I give a presentation to the group, and I'm flattered, but I'm not sure it would be appropriate given that not everyone in the group (about 80+ women) is fighting this particular battle. But I did say that I might offer to start a small support group of the ladies who are interested in the program, and I can coach them via e-mail! It's pretty flattering, considering that this time last year, nobody in their right mind would have looked at me and asked for my diet tips!

This morning we were actually chilly in our short sleeves as we headed out to the car--it was in the 60s! Lover-ly! Very unusual for this time of year in DFW. I let the two older kids put their work off for a couple of hours to go saddle up the horse for a ride, and they're having a blast! If the weather stays nice through the weekend (which is always a crap-shoot in Texas), I might have to treat myself to a ride Saturday!

Looks like we have two Sistahs heading off on vacations over the next week--don't forget to report in on all the fun you've had ladies!

Good morning everyone :sunny:

I'm happy that I lost 2 pounds this past week, AND that it put me under 200!! I've now lost 25.5 pounds.

ashley: Wow that is wonderful! I know you'd do a great job in motivating and encouraging others to eat healthier! And I love your 75 pound clippie! :cool2:

Pryncesa: Congrats on your 4 pound weight loss. Way to go!! :cheer2:

Michele and Veronica: I hope you have a wonderful vacation!!!! We want details from both of you when you come back!! :sunny:

Erin: WELCOME!! :grouphug:

delilah: Congrats on your weight loss this week! To me, any loss is wonderful and a step in the right direction! :cool1:

Carol: Welcome back! :grouphug: I know you can get back on track! It's so easy to get off track though, isn't it. It's great that you didn't gain much back!! ::yes::

Good Morning Sistahs!

Notice my new clippy?! Yes I have reached 26 lbs loss before my vacation! :cool1: I am so excited that I surpassed my mini goal! Thanks to all of you for your support. I really could have not done it with out you!

Seaspray 25.5 lbs! Great job Sistah! We are now offical members of the 25 lbs clippy club!

Pryncessa - Congrats on the 4lbs that is awesome! I hope the exercise goes well for you this week! Some days I really don't feel like exercising but then I do and I feel great afterwards. Don't push yourself too hard. Just do what you can and eventually you will build up.

Ashley - Isn't that the greatest when people notice your hard work. I bet it made you feel wonderful! Good luck if you start the support group! I know you will be a tremendous help to those ladies. Where do you find the time and energy to do all that you do? Are you the energizer bunny in disguise? :rotfl:

I leave Saturday for vacation so I do not know if I will have time to check in before then so I just want to wish everyone a wonderful week and weekend! I give you all details and maybe a few pics too when I get back!

Keep up the great work Sistahs!

Michele :grouphug:

I'm still bumping along. I've had an eventful two weeks. Last Wednesday, my favorite kitty died (I named myself after her--Delilah). On Thursday, I had to have my annual mammogram, which is always an experience, whether I think I have a reason to worry or not. Usually, a report comes up on the hospital computer the next day, so, I was anxious when no report for mine was dictated. So, Monday morning, before the office opened, before our phones were officially turned on, I get the message from my file clerk that radiology was on the private line for me, and needed another view. Well, it was just a technical problem, and my mammogram was normal.

Then, this weekend is our parish festival, so, we had a variety of preparations for it. Tomorrow, I will be working in the game tent. That should be fun--it always is. This afternoon, school got out at 12:15 because of the festival, and extended care ended at 3pm. So, I had to finish early at the office. My son and husband are at the festival now, but, I wanted to have a chance to exercise, so, I came home early. (We had a fish fry for dinner. I joke that tomorrow there is also a health fair at the hospital. So, all the parishioners can load up on fried fish and french fries this evening, and go get their cholesterol checked tomorrow. Somehow, I must be at the bottom of this conspiracy, trying to make more business for myself). Not me. I had my routine labs done yesterday morning, before the fish fry.

My favorite drug rep brought lunch today, which was predictably pizza. Once again, she voiced the opinion that I looked fine to her. I think I am going to do something nice for her. Our school sold "pizza card" for Pizza Hut and Papa Johns pizza. We had to buy one card per family, but, we never eat pizza at our house. The terms of the card are to buy one, get one free. We have no use for two pizzas. So, next time I see her, I will give her the card. It is good for 25 pizzas. Since she likes to bring pizza for lunch so much, I am sure she will make good use of it.

Despite it all, I managed to lose 3lbs this week, to bring me to 141lbs. I am so excited. Hope everyone is doing well, also.

Terry--you are doing so great! I am so happy to hear of your consistent progress!

Delilah-- 141--awesome! I bet the rep will appreciate the pizza card. I think people are usually trying to be nice, they just don't realize it comes off differently sometimes.

Well, I went to the doctor yesterday for bronchitis:sick: . Uggh!
But, I have lost another pound--so just 1-1/2 pounds to be in that next decade! Of course, being sick I've been ever-so-tempted to sit around drinking Cokes all day. But then that would be two bad things; I'd be sick and I'd gain weight. So no thank you--I'm going to limit myself to one bad thing this week!

Hopefully this bronchitis will be over soon. I'm ready to get some sleep. I haven't slept in 3 nights, because if I lay down I start coughing like a maniac, and I'm not very good at sleeping sitting straight up unless I have a baby to nurse!:rotfl:

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks ashleypmo! It's great that you lost so much without exercising. Wow! I'm planning on going really light with the exercise right now, and eventually work my way up. I want to get to a point where it's a part of my life from now on.
Pryncesa: Congrats on your 4 pound weight loss. Way to go!! :cheer2:
Thanks SeaSpray!! :goodvibes

LaLaroo, contratulations on surpassing your mini goal!!! That is so awesome!! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the well wishes for my exercising. I have done it once this week, so far, and it really did feel great afterwards. I felt very proud of myself and I could really get used to that feeling!

Keep up the great work everyone!

Hi everyone :wave2:

I hope everyone's weekend is going well so far :) I hope Veronica is having fun at Disney World right now, and Michele at Aruba! :sunny:

Ashley: I haven't been doing any exercise at all yet. So far, I've lost 28 pounds. Mainly because of my foot pain and joint pain. But I do want to start some sort of exercise routine, because I want to start to firm up and tone. Well, as firm and tone as I can possibly be at this age. :lmao:

delilah: Sorry to hear about the loss of your favorite kitty :( I have a Siamese cat named Mushu and I know how attached to him I am.

I've set a new mini-goal for myself; I want to be at 35 pounds lost before I leave for our cruise in 6 weeks. That's 7 pounds in 6 weeks, I think I can do it! :cool2:

I just wanted to say you guys are incredible. I wish I had known about this thread back in January '06 when I started Weight Watchers! You are such a good support system for each other.
When I joined WW I weighed 261.5 pounds and now maintain in the 142-143 pound range. It was not an easy journey but probably one of the most rewarding things I did for myself.
Good luck to all of you!

I would like to join this group. I have LOADS of weight to lose, and could use all the support I can get. You folks seem to be so encouraging to each other, and I would love to join in.

I have started a journal on the WISH journal board. If you would like to get to know me better and read about what brought me to this point, please feel free to check it out: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=20847309#post20847309

Well, not much time to post further now, but I will jump back in when I have a moment. Hope everyone has a great day!

Larry's Girl--welcome! This group of sistahs is so amazing, and I appreciate their encouragement every day. I know the group will be a blessing to you!

Stitchlover--wow! What a success story!

Terry-- 28 pounds! Coolie! Wait--look! What's that? It's the 35 pound mark, and it's comin' up fast! :thumbsup2 In the beginning, I really couldn't exercise much either because of my bad knees. I honestly don't think I have any cartiledge. Stationery bike was the worst--my knees would feel like they were on fire! But walking didn't bother me most days, so I wasn't really that bad off. Do your elbows/wrists give you much pain? If not, I would start w/ dumbells and push ups (either "girly" style or against the bathroom or kitchen counter). You'll notice your definition there first, because we are generally 'closer to the bone' in the arms & shoulders, so it's a quicker payoff.

Squats are really good--using an exercise ball between your back & the wall eases the pressure on the knees, but it still might not relieve it enough for you. I used to (and still sometimes) a leg lift series: laying down, :rotfl2: with your left leg flat & right knee bent, right foot flexed up, heel a couple of inches off the ground; now, keeping your foot flexed, straighten your right leg, keeping your heel a couple of inches off the ground (it will be like doing the quad press machine, if you've ever seen/done it) and repeat. I do about 20 and then move immediately into leg lifts, toes pointed, knee bent slightly. It's not too intense, but with about 20 of each, I can feel the proverbial burn.

Michele--My, but that new clippie looks good on you!:woohoo:

Howdy Sistahs!!

I am back from the World and still not quite recovered from all the FUN we had!!! It was unbearably hot and I did not drink nearly enough water. I am still trying to catch up on the H2O. We walked A LOT. We also sweat a lot.

As far as the free dining went, I think I did pretty well. I did not eat everything on my plate and felt just fine about leaving food behind. We had muffins for breakfast in our room everyday except for Sun, when we went to the Maya Grill buffet for breakfast. Now I really liked CSR, but the Maya Grill was YUCK!:crazy2: There was no one there, so the food does not get replenished very often, so things get hard and stale sitting under the heat lamps. The fresh fruit was okay.

DH and I split a chicken wrap at Pecos Bills on Thurs. That night we had dinner at the Maya Grill. I had a seafood soup (fair, only ate 1/4 of it) the filet with a baked potato (only at 1/3 of the filet and half the potato) and the churros for dessert (hardly anything to this). The best part of this dinner was the rolls with the dipping oil. YUMMY!

Friday, we had lunch at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot. I had the chicken caesar salad, which was okay, nothing spectacular. Dinner this night was Biergarten, the German buffet. I really liked this meal. I had a little salad, some schnitzel and cabbage and a little German potato salad. I only had one plate and tried a little of each of the things.

Saturday, we had both lunch and dinner at the Pepper Market at CSR. I will say that this is now my favorite food court in WDW. At lunch we both had cheeseburgers (better than the ones in the parks IMO) and for dinner I had the taco salad. It was HUGE!!! I only ate about 1/3 of it, it was so big. But it was really tasty and fresh. I tried to drink only water, but on a few occasions (and against my better judgement) I had a coke. I felt horrible afterward (mostly physically, but mentally too) but it did tast real good.

Sunday we had lunch at the Plaza Restuarant at MK. What a gem!!! I had the strawberry chicken salad, hold the gorgonzola. Again, I only ate about 1/3 of it and did not even get the appy or dessert!!!

I had 1 mickey bar and a dole whip as "treats". We used most of our snack credits for water.

I don't think I did too bad all in all, but I noticed everything seemed more salty and I am in a defeceit on water to boot. So I am trying to catch up there. Also (and if I go TMI here let me know) I seem to go "potty" a lot more while I am there. Maybe it is the amount of fat in the food, but I do go more than I do at home.

DD rode Space Mountain and Everest (they were "okay") but Test Track and Soarin are still her faves. I had my pic taken with Minnie-once I figure out how to post it here, I will. I will also post a pic from last years trip to see the difference!!!

I am so glad to see everyone doing well. SeaSpray, I don't doubt that you can reach 35 lbs before your trip!!!

Pryncesa-WAY TO GO!!! a 4 lb loss is awesome!

delilah-good job-141-COOL!! Good idea on the pizza card for the drug rep.

Ashley-hope you are feeling better. Bronchitis is the worst!!

Well kids, I have written enough for tonight. I may write a trip report, Iwill let you know if I do.

Later Sistahs!!

VernRDH: Congratulations on doing so well at WDW! Sounds like you had fun without undoing all your hard work. I hope I do as well next month.

I had a good day yesterday, resisting the urge to eat at bedtime even though I was REALLY hungry. Got up at 4:30 this morning to get in here to exercise even though my back was KILLING me - took Excedrin and did the walking anyway. Very proud of myself and looking forward to my day.

Hope all of you have a good one!

Thanks larrys girl and WELCOME!!!

Ashley-I had a question for you about the chromium. Do you find that it really makes a difference for you? I had taken it before (not recently) and I did not see any difference with it. But perhaps I did not take enough:confused3 Any insights on this would be appreciated.

I weighed in yesterday for BL and was the same as last week, which is good since I was completely off plan for 5 days. But I am hoping to kick it into high gear and get back to my losing ways now that things are back to the old routine here.

Can't wait to hear about Michele's trip-I bet she had a great time.

SeaSpray-Only 6 more weeks until the EOS!!! You must be totally jazzed. I have 7 more months until I go and I can hardly stand it! DH is looking at a short cruise in the meantime to use up the last of our SWA credit. I say we should go as it is "research" for the podcast!! :rotfl:

Also, can someone tell me how to post pictures in a post? I wanted to put up a pic of me with Minnie (our best "Sistah") from this trip and a pic of me from last years trip. There is quite a difference!

Have a great day friends!!:wizard:

Okay, I am trying to post a few before and during pics of me from WDW. I hope you can see them okay!!

December 06 almost at my heaviest
