Need help - MASSIVE amounts of weight to lose

Today I weighed 144 1/2, so, I down 2 lbs for the week. Technically, by definition of BMI less than 25, I am only about 10 lbs overweight. At the rate I am going, I might be close to my goal by our trip at the end of October (within 10 lbs). We are going to be seeing my brother and his family. We saw them in June. At the time, I had lost only about 15 lbs, and was still extremely heavy. I don't think that anybody noticed that I had lost weight. I haven't told them what I have been up to, so, will they ever be surprised. I bought a new bathing suit for my trip, since I don't think the one I had in June will fit correctly.

One of the drug reps at work says she is going to tease her partner, who has been on maternity leave since early June. She is going to tell her that I am a new doctor when she comes back. That should be fun to see her reaction.

Today, I am working on reorganizing my son's room. At the end of the school year, I had nowhere to put his books from school, so, I am putting some of the books he has that are too easy in storage. I'm not sure I'm going to give them away just now. I think I might let him decide which to keep when he gets a bit older. Last time I put books in storage, he was upset with me for putting Goodnight Moon away. So, I will let him keep whichever were his favorites, any or all of them. Only problem is that the box is too heavy for me to lift--I'll have to find smaller boxes later. Wouldn't you know that since I wanted to find boxes for books this week, we didn't have any boxes at my office that I could use. So, I have about done what I can for now, and will move on to something else.

Hi all,

Well, I'm back from my first Mom and Kids only trip to the beach. We had a really good time and the weather cooperated. By cooperating, I mean we had sunshine the whole time, but, boy oh boy, was it ever hot! Plus, the other family we rented a house with, doesn't like AC so we had to compromise. They kept opening up the doors and windows and I kept closing them and cranking up the AC.:rotfl: I actually left the AC at about 77 degrees and I was so hot at night. My friend said she was freezing. We need to find a house that has different zones, so we can both be happy with the temp. Anyhow, the kids behaved very nicely for the most part and even stayed happy during a 2 hour delay that turned our 6 hour drive into an 8 hour drive. Gotta love a DVD player and lots of movies for long car rides.

I did gain a couple of pounds on the trip, but usually that kind of gain comes off quickly for me. I'm back to eating well and I'm going to add exercise in tomorrow.

Congrats to all of you who had some nice weight losses this week. I love hearing about all of the successes.

Hey all!

Our A/C went out Monday:eek:   , and they can't replace the coil until Friday morning:eek:  , so I haven't been wanting to boot up the computer--it's 90 degrees in my office (and 95 in my master bedroom!), and I know computers no likee heat.

Our gameroom upstairs is on its own unit, so we've been sleeping up there, and that's where the two littlest are napping at the moment. I am thankful that it didn't go out a couple of weeks ago when we were in the 100s, but it's still going to get to 98 today. :scared: I'm channelling the strength of all my French canadian and german pioneering ancestors to get through this. My husband is hispanic, and he was telling the kids about how this is the way he grew up, w/ no A/C/, down in the Rio Grande Valley where summer is even longer than it is here, and no ceiling fans! Plus his mom still had to cook. I have enacted a strict oven-ban/stove-ban until my a/c is up and working again, which means we've spent a small fortune eating lunch out every day this week.

Veronica, 2P&1princess: , & Delilah--:cool2: way to go on your weight losses!

Terry-- I know how you feel. We've all been there. But you have been doing so great--don't let yourself get discouraged over this little setback. And you know, as long as you pick yourself up & get back on track, those couple of pounds will come right back off.

Wahoo--I had to laugh about the "climate" issue! I remember visiting my Grandpa up in Connecticut years ago, and it was 90degrees in July and he went around closing windows because he was catching "a chill"! My sister and I went and sat in the basement because we were burning up. Just because we live in Texas doesn't mean we enjoy melting! I can just imagine sneakin' over to boost up that A/C:rolleyes1 !:rotfl2:

Well, good news! Mason's tests came back negative for Celiac disease!:thumbsup2 I am so happy! We still have to figure out what's going on, but just about anything else it could be would be much better than Celiac. It could be a wheat sensitivity, or it could be something else entirely. I'm going to put him on probiotics, and then we'll discuss it w/ the nutritionist at the Down syndrome clinic on his next visit. We're still going to try to wean off gluten for the sake of DS8 & his ADD, because I think he'll be so much happier when he realizes what it feels like to be truly tuned in, but now it's not so life & death.

We went to some friends house for dinner the other night & had a great time, but the lag between dinner and dessert was kind of long, so I have a feeling I went over my hour. I tried to stall starting my meal by taking care of the kids' food first. There wasn't a clock around, so I couldn't really check, and she was going to so much trouble making dessert that I didn't want to be rude and decline. And I haven't been drinking enough water this week, which is so hard to believe because I'm so hot! But we've been spending several hours away from the house every day, and I'm not good about drinking away from home. Plus just because of the heat I need to be drinking more, because I'm constantly dehydrated. I'm afraid to weigh, because I can tell I'm retaining water--my fingers are feeling swollen. And I haven't been working out as much as usual because of the heat, but I've still tried to get in a couple of sets of squats & glut lifts, & some push ups a couple of times a day.

Splash--hope DH's hand heals. That sounds painful beyond words! My hand hurts just thinking about it.

Have a great day everyone!:grouphug:

Hi everyone-

Just checking in quick to see how everyone is doing. DD has her belt ceremony at TKD this morning and DH is working a comp day so he can take off the day we leave for WDW. We are hoping DD's teacher assignment comes in the mail today, so that we can start the phone calls of "who did you get?" LOL. Only one more week of camp for her (Thank the good Lord) and then we are back in the routine. Weather here is getting hot and sticky again.

Hope everyone is well. See ya later.

Hey Sistahs!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. We had DD's TKD belt ceremony on Sat (i didn't eat the doughnuts they had out:thumbsup2 ) and then DD and I stopped at the uniform store so I could try on some scrubs. Well wasn't i surprised that I comfortably fit into a MEDIUM scrub jacket and MEDIUM scrub pants!! I haven't worn a medium since the dawn of time. I was so psyched. :cool1: :woohoo: My boss said he would order me all new scrubs when I needed them. All my current ones are XL and I am positively swimming in them!!! So next week when we are back from vacation (I am not taking a vacation, I am temping this week to pay for my trip in 2 weeks) I will pour over the catalog and pick out new uni's!!!

Hope to hear from you guys soon!! I know that the end of summer is busy for everyone (I know it is for us!) and hope that everyone is doing well with their WOE and exercise!!

C-ya!!!

Morning Sistahs!

Glad to hear about everyone's weight loss! Congrats!

I still can't shake this cold  I exercised last night for 50 mins, I had to make up for the lost time. I haven't exercised since last Monday! Exercise is definetly the last thing I want to do when I am sick!

Well I have to get back to work. We are short staffed this week and I have to pick up the slack! :surfweb: I just wanted to check in and say hi!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Have a great day.

Michele

Hi everyone :wave2:

Just checking in! :) I've been very busy, especially since getting back from NJ a week ago. I ended up gaining 2 pounds on my trip, but I've since taken it off, plus at least a pound so far, so I'm confident that my weigh-in at work on Friday will be OK. This is the last weigh-in for my company's Biggest Loser contest, and I hope I win! LOL I've been in the lead for the last 3 months since it started, so I'll be devastated if I don't win now. lol I'll let you all know how it goes :)

Laroo: I see you have a trip coming up in a couple of weeks, I hope you have a great time! :)

Veronica: Wow, congrats on your weight loss and new size!!! That must be so exciting!! :yay: :cheer2:

ashleypmo: Im so glad that yous DS's celiac test came back negative

wahoostampingirl: Welcome back from your trip, it sounds like you all really had a wonderful time! :sunny:

delilah: While my younger DS was in NJ for the summer, I cleaned out and organized his room. Well he's been back a week and it doesn't look really bad yet...but let's just say it doesn't look the same as it did when I was finished organizing it! lol

SplashMtnCrew: How is your DH's hand doing??

2princes/1princess: How is your DS enjoying kindergarten??? :teacher:

Congrats to everyone on their weight losses!!!!

Good Morning!

I'm glad everyone is doing well. And thanks to all of you for your concerns about my DH :flower3: He is doing good. He has 2 different hand braces he has to wear for at least the next six weeks, possibly eight. The surgeon took the stitches out yesterday afternoon and today he has more physical thearapy. It will just be an ongoing process of healing, with trying not to re-injure the tendon :sad2: Some good did come of it though. His company went ahead and gave him his promotion now rather than waiting until the end of Sept. so now he offically has his office job :woohoo:

Yesterday was my weigh in day and I lost one pound this week, total of 9 so far :cool1: I was hoping for more to be able to add the '10 Pound' banner, but I will work towards that this week :)

I'm cheering for all of you, have a great day! :cheer2:

Hey Ladies!!!

It has been a horrendous week for me as far as exercise. With my filling in at another office, I have to get up WAAY early and its a 10 hour day, so I don't have the time or inclination(at the end of the day) to do it. I am trying to keep my eating in check, but I am not hopeful for tomorrows weigh in. Come Saturday, I will be back on track completely (eating and exercise) so I should still be able to make my 170lb goal by our trip (2 weeks from today, not soon enough!!!)

But on the bright side, I met DH for lunch today (we went to Subway, I had the turkey 6 inch, sun chips and the light lemonade) and then I stopped in the consignment shop near there. I found a pair of jeans, size 14P and tried them on. Fit like a glove. I was sooooo psyched!!! And the best part, they were on sale, so I only paid, with tax (get ready) $6.66!!! Cheap skinny pants!!! What could be better?

Hoping for a small loss tomorrow or at least not a huge gain. Wish me luck!!

glad to see everyone's progress! I am miserable (and whiny, evidently!) with a stomach virus or maybe mild food poisoning. I had serious food poisoning after a trip to Cancun once 16 years ago, almost put me in the hospital w/ a fever of 105 and severe dehydration, and this is nothing like that, but I brought one of those yummy-looking gourmet tamales home from SuperTarget's deli the other day, and I left it out on the kitchen counter--oops! It was unrefrigerated for about 11 hours, so of course dope that I am I threw it in the fridge and ate it 4 days later. I'm sure all those little buggies had plenty of time to multiply!

Started back homeschooling this week, having a great time (other than being derailed w/ this illness). Have in-laws coming in tomorrow, so I really hope I'm better soon.

Take care all, and congrats again on everyone's progress!

YAY for your weight loss!! I'm sure you'll be at 10 pounds soon!! I love changing the WISH banner to the next highest level...I still have a few pounds to go, to reach the "25". lol

I'm sorry you've been so sick! I HATE stomach ailments, I'm such a baby when I get sick like that!!! :( I hope you're feeling ALL better soon :) My DSs don't start school until next week; college starts back on Tuesday, high school on Wednesday. :teacher:

I lost .5lb this week. Sunday was my son's Adoption Day, and we went out to his favorite restaurant, a Chinese buffett type restaurant. I did OK with quantity of food, but, there is so much salt in that type of food, I quite possibly am retaining fluid. Anyway, .5lb is better than no loss at all (which happened the last time we had Chinese food).

I have been totally off blood pressure medication now for a week, and my blood pressure is doing well. I feel better, too. I was getting orthostatic on the medication. One day last week, even with the lower dose, my blood pressure was 92/60. So, now, my only medication is for cholesterol, which I would take, anyway, and always needed, even when I was normal weight in the past. I notice in retrospect that I may have been having some trouble with constipation with the blood pressure medicine. That is an improvement, too, I must say. I thought it was just because of change in eating habits, but, I didn't change eating habits the past week, just the blood pressure medicine.

I am now able to wear the clothes I bought on summer clearance from Eddie Bauer. I bought size 6. I intend to lose more weight. I guess size 6 now just isn't the same as size 6 was the last time I wore it. Last time, I weighed 120-125 lbs. Now, I am 144. I note that I appear to have had a redistribution of weight. I am smaller in the hips and thighs than before, and, of course, larger in the waist and chest, relatively speaking. (I am wearing about size 10 or so on top, but before at this weight, I wore size 10 all over).

Some well meaning people have been implying that they think I've lost enough weight. I think I will be more comfortable at my goal weight, however. I think they just need a little time to get used to my being a normal size.

This is my mom! I know she means well, but it's making me crazy. I've been between 20-35 lbs over weight since I was a kid, with periods of higher and lower weights, though never an 'ideal' weight. In my family we immediately gain weight in our butts, and it is the last place to lose it. My mom is trying to tell me that it's okay to have a big butt/thighs because it runs in the family and it should just 'be that way.' She's freaking out because I recently got down to 135 which I haven't been in YEARS. (I'm 5'3", med frame) She's insisting if I lose anymore I'll look anorexic. Ummm, mom? I'm still 20 lbs overweight by the height/weight charts, at least 10-15 lbs overweight for where I'll be comfortable. I know she only does it because she loves me, but Grrrr.:headache:

ETA: She even asked my DH if he thought I needed to lose weight. Smart man that he is, he told her that he loved me at any weight and it was up to me where I wanted to be.

Good Morning, Sistahs!

I hope everyone is doing well. I lost another 2.5 lbs! Hopefully I can lose another 2.5 by my vacation! So that would be 5 lbs over my mini goal!

Ashley I hope you are feeling better :flower3:

Deliah Congrats on the weight loss and getting off the blood pressure medicine!

Splash glad to hear you husband is recovering well. Congrats on his promotion and your weight loss too. You'll be at 10 + loss next week!

Vern Cheap Skinny pants! That is super awesome! I know you will be 170 by your vacation!

Seaspray I hope your weigh in goes good today and you win your Biggest Loser contest! Let us know what happens! pixiedust:

If I forgot anyone I apologize!

Keep up the great work sistahs!

Have a great Labor day weekend! :hippie:

Hello Ladies!!:wave2:

Well my week form H-E-double hockey sticks is finally over!!! I love that I can temp and make beaucoup dollars to pay for my various travel addictions (well Disney:smickey: or cruising:boat:) but I am so craving my regular routine again. I did get out early today (1pm) so I met DH and DD for lunch and we did some shopping. Boscov's (a department store here) had 75%off summer clothes. DH got 5 nice polo shirts and I got 5 nice Izod tees (XL and XXL for DH-he used to be 3X with difficulty at time) and MEDIUM for me!!!:cool1: Now I's got me some skinny shirts to go with my skinny jeans!!! Oh the things that excite me!

I was so worried that I would post a gain this week, but I weighed in today (forgot yesterday with the crazy schedule) and I lost 0.6, for a new grand total of 42.4!!! I am hoping to get that 45 lb lost clippie by our trip.

LaLaRoo-YOU GO GIRL!!! 9 lbs for the month-you rock:rockband: I bet you will be able to lose that other 2.5 before your trip.

SeaSpray-Terry-did you win? Inquiring minds want to know. What did you win by the way? Cash, a maid service what??? You are doing so great, keep up the good work.

delilah-Congrats on being off the meds!!! I tried being off mine but my pressure was still too high, so I am going to wait until Nov. when I see my dr. again and see what he says. Hopefully I can get off the lotrel forever!!! Size 6 wow, I am in a regular 14 and super psyched!!! I may plotz when I get to a 6!

Ashley-sorry about the tummy troubles:sick: that is yucky! Good luck with the inlaws and the homeschooling. You are a braver woman than I, thats for sure!

Splash-I am keeping my eyes peeled for that 10 pound banner in your siggie. I know it will be there before you know it!! Keep up the good work, and I am glad to hear that DH and his hand are doing all right.

I am going to take a short nap now, then we are going to the grocery store. Gotta stock up on healthy stuff, otherwise we tend to drift back to our old habits.

Hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend. I am looking forward to a little R & R and school :teacher: starts on Weds. NOT SOON ENOUGH!!!!

Take care everyone!

I WON!! :cool2: I lost 6.5 just this week alone! lol I went out with a bang!! lol I'll win about $50 in cash (we all put in a few $$ at the start), no maid cleaning service but I wish I did!

:woohoo: Terry-CONGRATS You may be the "biggest loser" but you are a total WINNER to us!!!:cheer2: WOW 6.5 lbs this week that is amazing!! Now not that I am telling you what to do with your winnings, but I say buy your self and DH some really good sail away drinks on the Explorer with that money!!!

EXCELLENT idea Veronica!! :sunny:

Have any of you thought about joining the WISH Biggest Loser contest? LaLaroo and I have joined already, there's a thread here on the WISH board. Maybe we could be on the same team??

I have succumbed to the peer pressure and signed up for the Biggest Loser challenge. It would be nice if I could be on the same team as SeaSpray and LaLaRoo, but it will be fun no matter what. Our dear friend Brenda is participating-I had wondered what had become of her. I hope she pops in over here and lets us know how she is doing.

Congratulations on your DSs adoption!!!!!! :sunny: I love Chinese food too! lol

Also Congrats on being able to go off the BP medications!! I currently take Lisinopril and Atenolol, and I'm really hoping to be able to at least cut down on them, if not do away with them altogether.
