I'm so happy I found this today! We haven't been on a family DW trip for a couple of years, so my poor, neglected children think we're NEVER EVER going again (please read that with sarcasm) 
With school and sports being an issue now as they're older, it's been difficult to find a "good" time. My DH and I found a week before school stars where we're pretty free and clear of any commitments, so we've booked a week for the 4 of us (DD is 14 and DS is 10). Unfortunately, my oldest (who is 19) will be back in school (college) at this time, but she is understanding and knows she will get there again (as a side note, I feel terrible she can't make it, but it was the only time we had and she's been there many, many times with and without us).
Anyways, my DH and I have decided to surprise the "little ones" this time around. We've never gone that route before, so really excited I found this post. I know they won't be upset with a surprise, so we're really trying to find the right way to do it. Thanks for posting and GOOD LUCK and have FUN!!!
