Need help from Southwest Gurus

I am getting ready to book a flight to Disneyland and I am wondering which is the best way to book for my husband and myself.

(1) Just book the roundtrip travel for 2 pax on one reservation
(2) Book 2 different roundtrip tickets, one for each of us, with 2 reservations total
(3) Book each flight segment for each person separately (4 reservations).

I am wondering which would be the best strategy for price drops. I am thinking I should do at least (2) in case there is only one ticket at the lower fare... but if the fare drops on the way there but then increases for the return trip home, will my return flight price be maintained when I rebook to get the cheaper fare on the first half of the travel?

I am going to use reward points if it matters.

Book 2 tickets one way, then 2 tickets back

Its not neccesary to book one ways in case the price goes down.
If the price goes down all you have to do is put in your confirmation number and click the box to the left of the flight and person you want to get the price adjustment for. It will not alter the other segment of your ticker.

For example it will pull of
John Smith and have a box to the left of his name
Sue Smith and have a box to the left of her name.
If you only want to alter one person ticket click the box on the left of that person name. The other person ticket remains the untouched.
I have done it MANY a times without any issues.

When I go in to Change Reservation it gives me the option to change either the flight down or the flight down. But it doesn't give me the option to change people individually. There aren't boxes next to the passenger names, only the flights.

It says

Changes apply to all passengers on the reservation.

But I think you may be able to change individual passengers over the phone

Hmmmm so now I may need to book our tickets separately? Of course if they are different prices at initial booking I would do that anyways.

I have this same question come up every time I book Southwest. This is where I've landed:

If you might change one and not the other because of personal schedule -- do a round trip per person. Total of two reservations.

If you are pretty sure you would modify both at same time (for price drop or otherwise), one reservation with two round trip passengers is easiest. Only once (of dozens of times) did I have a scarcity of tickets left issue for applying price drop.
