I need quick help.

We usually buy a real tree.
I want to buy an Artificial Fiberoptic Tree on Overstock.com and it says "sell out risk is HIGH"
The tree is 7 feet tall (and costs $109)
My husband insists that we always get at least an 8 foot tree and that a 7 foot tree is too short for our living room. We do have a high ceiling, but it is not that high where we would put the tree (by the fireplace).

My questions:

How high is your tree?
How high is the average tree?
How tall should a tree be for a great room with a high ceiling (but not so high where the tree goes)?

Thank you.

I would say that you want the tree at least a foot shorter than the height of your ceiling, since you will most likely put something on top of the tree, and you do not want it to look funny jammed up into the ceiling. My tree is about 6 feet (we have 8.5 foot ceilings) but it is nice and wide.

Our tree is 7 ft but I wish it was a little taller. I think the average sizes are 7, 71/2 and 8 ft. Hope this helps...

We got a 6 foot tree this year, and we have 8 foot ceilings. I believe that is a pretty standard ceiling height. For taller ceilings (like 10'), you could probably use an 8' tree.

It depends on how high your ceilings are. We have 10 feet ceilings, we need at least an 8 foot tree.

We have 8 ft. ceilings and have a 7 ft. tree.

Okay, I guess my husband is right.... We need at least an 8 foot tree.
It's just that the tree at overstock is so pretty and it has a color change "wheel" so you can change the light patterns and colors as you want (or just even have white lights if you want).

THANK YOU for all your help and advice. :)

We have 8 ft ceilings, and a 7.5 Ft tree - DH is 6'5 himself and anything smaller would look pretty silly next to him. Plus, we're just renting this house and our tree will last longer than the ceiling height.

if you have high ceilings, a 7ft is going to look puny in there... I'd get something closer to your ceiling height.

Our tree topper is about 1cm from the ceiling LOL =0

We went short this year an got a 9 foot real tree. Last year it was 11-12 feet.

We have some pretty high ceilings.
