Need Help Booking a 5 day Mid Oct Trip

SO i need a 2 bed room in mid October from a Wednesday night to a Monday. 5 nights.....i have used the availability tool and it seems like the best bet is wilderness lodge. i have a small contract there with 30 points i have 30 banked in so 60 for 2015 and i can borrow 30 more. that will get me 2 nights in a two bedroom Friday and Saturday. Should I book the 2 nights bc i would think those will be the 2 nights of highest demand or should i just wait and do the 7th month window. right now the whole month is open for both kinds of 2 bedrooms at wilderness lodge. we are about 7 weeks from the window. please advise am i over thinking this?

The general thought is to book before the 7 month window opens so you have a room then change, depending on availability later. Mid October is a VERY popular time for DVC members (I believe second only to early December) and hotels at the near-park resorts can be very difficult to get.

I would absolutely book the 2 most in demand nights while you still have booking priority. I own at the VGC and I do this sort of thing all the time to secure my reservations since I don't have a ton of VGC points and there are only 23 villas there. And then if needed I waitlist for the rest of the ressie if I can't get it at 7 months and since the waitlist is for the less in-demand nights, it often comes through.

Maybe drusba will post on this thread with advice. He is our resident expert. It used to be that weekends were so many more points than weekdays that weekdays were often harder to get. I don't know if that's true anymore or not, especially mid-October.

i just dont like to borrow points that is my thing worst case we end up at AKL but going with a bunch of kids and dont want to deal with the longer bus ride to the MK.

It sounds like you don't want to have to borrow the additional 30 points since once the 7 month window opens up, you will have enough points to book the entire stay without having to do that.

Since its not going to be you but 2 nights, personally, I would just wait it out since you still seeing that the 2 bedroooms are open right now.

At most, I might book the one night I could with the 60 points you have available and then just get up on the morning of 7 months and do it with your other point.

Part of me agrees I think I should be ok but you never know I should not worry about it until we get closer anyway
