Need grade verification for DD and school won't help!

I called the school yesterday, her traveling basketball team in playing in the state tournament and they need GRADE verification for all the players. I called the school and they said they get too many requests for this so they won't give it out. The state board is requesting a letter on school letterhead signed by a school official stating what grade they are in. The school told me to use her birth certificate . That is fine and dandy and they can see that she is 12 years old but that doesn't mean she is in 7th grade!

They just got a report card but I didn't keep it. I took a copy of her school picture envelope that shows her name and grade, hopefully they will accept that. I WILL be calling the school back on Monday.

I completely understand that they are busy and with 600+ students it can be a lot but they could print up a form letter and have the parents come in and fill it out if they need one. It wouldn't take that much time. I don't know how else we are supposed to get this verification.

I assume you can't access grades on line. Any schedules lying around? Could a teacher do it for you? Homeroom teacher? We have access to school letterhead. I'd do if for a student who asked.

Who exactly did you call? I would call the guidance office first.

I went straight to the online grade book when the school said no but no where on the site does it list her grade--weird. When DD gets her rear out of bed I am going to see if she has a schedule. I can try one of her teachers if all else fails.

I called the main office but they are the same people that would handle the guidance office stuff too.

OK, well that was easier then I thought--DD has her portfolio home to get it ready for their student lead conferences (see that post too) and had a copy of her report card in that.
