We did a non-budget minded thing. We booked an extra evening at WDW . We go annually for free dining, and usually take the first flight out on Fri, but since that won't get us to the park until about 1:30, DH suggested we leave Thurs afternoon, and surprise DD6 with dinner at CM. We're thinking of putting her in school for half a day, and then giving her some excuse why we need her to come home early. It won't be a huge surprise, since she'll be aware we were supposed to be leaving the following morning. I'm trying to come up with a way to make it extra special, since we've had some major family stress for a while (teenager related). Our flight is about 3, and we usually have car service to the airport. DD loves Jetblue, so last year DH took her on a bunch of dry runs to the airport (it's about 10 min from our house). If DH was driving, we could tell her we were going on a dry run, but not so easy with a transport van....

Could you and your husband get picked up first with all your luggage and then have the van go to her school to pick her up for the trip? My kids would feel so special if all their friends got to wish them goodbye as they are swept away to the airport.

Have a great trip!

Could you write a note from Mickey saying he can't wait to see her and she needs to go earlier and have the teacher give it to her? Sounds like fun at the end of school.

We leave June 4th (boys get out of school on the 1st) and we haven't told them yet!!:cool1: We might wake them up at 3am and tell them we're leaving at 4 for a 6:30am flight.:lmao:

DD asks me almost every time we see a van if that's our Disney van, and what time its coming to pick us up for the airport. I have one other quandry, though. I originally though there would extra evening hours at MK on our arrival night, so we'd be able to eat at Chef Mickey's and then do a walk through of the castle. After checking our past year's itinerary's, MK had extra hours in the morning on Thurs in Sept, and I'm not sure if any park was open late. I was hoping to find something low-key, but WDW-ish to do after dinner. Plane lands at 6, so probably looking at 8:15-8:30 dinner time. :)
