How's Dollar for renting a car? We've never rented from them, always National or Avis. But for this upcoming trip, we found that we can rent from Dollar for $30 cheaper. DH is tempted to stay with National, since we've always had pretty good luck with them. But I'm looking for reviews first. ANyone with any experience with Dollar? Good/Bad?

We've always had good experiences with Dollar. Only issue I ever had was a recent trip in November. I had booked a midsize car. Guess they ran out of them! It was the first time I ever waited in line, registered, then waited again for a car assignment. They asked if anyone had a party of four or more; I approached the counter and told them my family was joining me in a few days. I ended up with a really nice minivan for the price of a midsize. I don't know how the other people fared.

This experience seemed to be a fluke. Someone mentioned a few conventions in town that wiped out the inventory, as well as a few other reasons. Probably poor planning on someone's part. But they did right by me, so I can't complain.

Hope this helps!

I think they offer an excellent value-service combination, and that's from several dozen rentals over 10+ years for business and pleasure throughout the country. If/when the price is competitive, I have and would never hesitate.

At one time, they offered mostly Chrysler products and I would occasionally get a Japanese make from them as well (which I am partial to.)

We have rented from them in MCO several times and have no complaints.

Interestingly enough, I have begun to use Avis as well - I think they're service is a cut above.

I rent from Dollar all the time - never had a problem. You should sign up for their Dollar Express plan - it's free. At many airports it allows you to skip the line and go right to picking out your car. At MCO, it seems like you still have to wait in line - but it's a dedicated line, and if nothing else, you have all your paperwork filled out and don't have to deal with folks trying to upsell our convince you to buy the insurance.

Never had a problem with Dollar at MCO. I agree with the prior poster, sign up for their Fastlane service, it will save you a bit of time.

Love Dollar --
Get the Fastlane Service -- it's free

You'll be in your car in less than 15 minutes from the time you reach the counter.

Have fun!

We've always had good experiences with Dollar.

Just wanted to add that the "Fastlane" program mentioned above is now called "Dollar Express". You can sign up for it on the website.
