need Christmas ideas for Long Distance 17yr son

Doesnt look like I'll be getting back to MA for Christmas. Have a 17yr son up there that Id still like to do something special for. While he was growing up we would often do "the twelve days of Christmas" where he would get something small for each of the 12 days leading up to Christmas. Also we would do hide the pickle on the tree on Christmas eve again where he would get a small item. Yes I know he's older but I would still like to do something small for him for those 12 days so he knows Im thinking of him.
Thinking of sending Christmas cards with either small amt of cash or gift cards. A few of those days (especially the last would be a larger gift - I know he wants Game Stop gift cards).

Any ideas besides cash to send those other days? maybe McD, Subway, Target, Chili's gift cards. (I cover his cellphone costs). He's a new driver so can get himself to the stores/etc now. Any other places I can get a card down in FL and there's also a store up in MA?

ETA: I see now that you can't go visit him as planned. I don't think I could stand not being with DD14.5 on Christmas.

My DS17 would love all of the above. Maybe think "theme" and get cards to go with that--like taking a girl out on a date-start with a gas card, Applebee's or other restaurant card, movie card, another food card for a place for desert and Game Stop for something to do after the movie, etc.

Subway is a HUGE hit with our kids so we always get them Subway gift cards for their stockings.

any activities he's into? if so you can contact the local place and have them send you a gift certificate (or card) to send-we've had relatives do this for our son for the local laser tag place (huge with the teen boys). the local rock climbing places do these as well.

any kind of special events coming up in the coming year in the area that he might be interested in attending? you can do a google search for venues and then give him a homemade gift certificate to reedem over the phone with you wherein you will order his ticket.
