Be Wary of One Way drop off fees and Extra Miles charges, Could be as high as $.40 or more per mile. I would look for at least a Mini Van. 7 Passenger and some room for luggage.
LOL. By car I actually meant a Van or SUV. I´m just wondering which type would be best and most economical? I think a regular Caravan will be to small. However a Grand Caravan might do.
Why not try Amtrac. Penn Station to Orlando. 24 hours and you are there. They do have a rental car locations also.
Will you have car seats with you? Several of the states you're driving through require them.
Have you decided where you want to spend the other 2 nights. ducklite is right about not being able to get a rental in NY for driving out of the tri-state area (I looked into once for a Florida trip). Maybe take a train to DC and get a rental from that area.
A Caravan would be good if it has the stow n go storage. Many rental companies also have Chevy Uplanders, which has room for 7 and then storage in the back.
Are you serious? I have gotten quotes from both Dollar and Budget and they dídn´t mention any problems. Wouldn´t they have said, if it wasn´t possible?
Were the quotes from places in NY or NJ? If so what area, or was it a main number? Did you say you were going to Florida? If it was a main number, they might not know the right information.
