Ok so probably the last thing that is on my list to even think about is Officiants and according to all those stupid little wedding timelines, this is one of the first things I should be doing.

I need help! The only Officiant I have notes on is Jack day, I think?

Also, I am a non-practicing Catholic and haven't really thought about Ceremony besides the Vows.

To be honest I've never even been to a wedding that wasn't Catholic in a Catholic church. Once I got engaged I decided I wanted something totally different than a church, just my personal perference I guess.

I've actually spent most of the night looking through the 8 pages of Weddings Disboards but didn't find many details of Officiants

Can you guys help me out with Officiants available, Rates they charge and their religious domination I guess?

Sorry with all the questions lately but I really feel i;m getting alot done with your help!:flower3:

My DD just got married (1/4/08) and she used Rev. Kevin Knox.....she and her hubby to be wanted a nonreligious ceremony (we're catholic - she's not practicing) and he's methodist. Rev Kev delivered everything they asked for....not too cheesy, not too religious..:goodvibes

He was a very nich man in general, not pushy, came to reheresal and was patient and good natured about everything they wanted. They had a sand ceremony during the wedding with a little prayer and blessing of the rings thrown in to make it a last a littler longer;) than 9 minutes total...

His cost was 250.00....

He did offer a premarital counseling package which was your choice if you wanted to do it or not....

All in all - we were happy with him and thought he did a great job for someone who had never met DD or fiance, or talked other than emails...

Good Luck...

i agree with the ppst above to a T. we loved rev kev. and so did all the guest. they said it was the nicest ceremony they had been to!! he is a good choice in my opinion

hmmm...

I was going to post my recommendation for Rev. Kevin as well, but I see that's already been done!;)

Rev. Kevin performed our ceremony too and he was very accommodating and very easy to work with. He responded quickly to emails and was a very nice man.

The day of the ceremony I was nervous (who isn't:confused3 ) but he did everything just as I would have wanted...respectful but with a touch of charm and fun.

It's like you read my mind for what I wanted. A sand Ceremony and blessng of the rings

Thank you all for the recommandations. Would you mind sharing How I could contact him?

I narrowed it down to Rev. Kev and Jack Day and ended up going with Jack I just got a little more of a personal touch--though I am sure Rev Kev is great too.

Rev. Jack called me to congratulate me, then called again to discuss the ceremony and again when I went down for my planning session just to check in. He has been great. As for ceremony formats, Jack sends a kit with sample ceremonys ranging from religious to not at all. There are a lot of sample layouts online as well.

We are using Rev. Miller. We had heard great things about him. So far, we have only exchanged emails, but they are nice and quick. He costs a little more than the others at $350.

Here's the website for Rev Jack Day. I am having the same problems you are. I can't decide who to choose. And I am also a non-practicing Catholic and can't decide if I want a religious ceremony :confused3

Just wanted to ring in that we were between Ronald Rosenzweig (website is wedinorlando.com - I think I copied that right) and Rev. Knox. We haven't been married yet so obviously it's just based on what's happened so far. I heard good recommendations for both on this site.

Ronald is a notary which I think DF was more comfortable with since we knew we wanted a non-religious ceremony. However as much as I wanted a non-religious ceremony I wanted to be more traditional and have a religious officiant - go ahead try to figure that out I know there's no logical reason I'm chalking it up to being a distressed bride :rotfl:. Anywho I liked that Rev. Knox gave a lot of options as well - he sent an email with a bunch of them, and he seemed a bit more flexible when it came to making ceremony changes (ie. we didn't have to list our changes at the time of deposit) so that was my choice. DF agreed - I think because it mattered more to me then him as long as he got a non-religious ceremony he was happy.

Also just an update we were just quoted a price a couple of weeks ago. We're having a wishes ceremony - which the price is $200, if we want Rev. Knox at the rehearsal (which we do) it was an additional $100. So it seems the prices may have gone up. Hope this helps and doesn't add to your confusion:confused3!

Im Using Rev Luther Kistler, Very Nice Only $150. He Actually Personally Answers Your Emails ! He Is A Retired Luthern Minister, My Fiance Is Catholic And I Am Baptist So We Had To Meet Somewhere In The Middle But Not Super Religious! We Are Doing A Blessing Of Hands Also In The Ceremony!
