My DD (13) is "going out" with a boy in her school who is also 13. Now they've never "gone" anywhere but, you get the idea. She is wondering what to get him for Valentine's Day. She came up with the idea of Valentine-themed BOXER SHORTS!!! :scared1: I told her, NO WAY, that I thought giving underwear was inappropriate for 13 year olds. Plus, they both attend parochial school (where the gift exchanged would occur) and I'm sure if this gift were discovered they'd probably get suspended. So, I am at a LOSS for what to get a 13 year old boy for Valentine's Day. Any of you out there with boys this age--what "neat" thing would they like. DD wants it to be a cool gift.

As a mom of a teenage son, it is getting harder and harder to find things for his age. I have done all of these: Buy a cd and use curling ribbon and attach a few valentine balloons. A valentine mug filled with hershey kisses with balloons attached. A very soft bear with valentine ribbon for the bow and secure a Hershey Bar as if the bear is holding it.

Thanks, I'll pass this on to her. By the way, how would you feel if he came home with some "red" boxers from his 13 year old girlfriend? Am I a prude?

My son is 16 and I wouldn't like him to get valentine boxers from a girl!! I guess I am a prude!!!!! I like the idea of hershey kisses or a CD. Maybe a gift certificate to Blockbuster or the movies, etc. Another idea would be to maybe bake him some cookies and put them in a nice container. I personally don't like the idea on anything too "personal" as gifts for teens (young teens) to give each other. Just my 2 cents.

As a Mom of a 13 year old son.. no way on the boxers.. .

But chocolate candy,a big cookie, a CD, gc to best buy or blockbuster would be very nice...

How about one of those RED squishy pillows that are really popular with teens now, they sell them at Brookstone and other places. My DS(17) got a red one for X-Mas from a girl and loves it! She could wrap some candies on top (such as Sweethearts, with the sayings on them), with some pretty red and white ribbon or something.

Hmmm...very nice idea. My kids got the squishy pillows for Christmas and they loved them (at least for a few minutes anyway). Sounds good...and easy.

I like the idea of a CD or a maybe a video game if he has playstation or gameboy or whatever.

You dis'ers always come up with such great, creative ideas!

If your dd feels like she's artistic, you could go to the local craft store and buy an unfinished wooden box that she can paint and personalize... then bake cookies or make those chocolate candies or just fill with chocolate kisses or other candy or even include a gift certificate inside it.

Or, does he have a picture of her or anything? She could get a frame and put a nice picture of herself in it for him and include a bag of candy all wrapped together.

All good ideas above. I think a big cookie or squishy pillow would go over big. I know my son got a squishy pilllow form his gf and uses it. He's older of course.

herc.

I would not like my 15 yr old coming home with boxers of any kind from a girlfriend. That is too personal.

P.S. Yes, I am a prude and proud of it......LOL...

I think candy or cookies would be nice. I like the idea of a giant hershey bar with red/pink/white curling ribbon on it. If she wants to buy something, maybe a gc to a music store so he can buy a cd or something, maybe even tuck the gc under the curling ribbon on the candy bar. Something that's not geared to older couples would be more appropriate...I think the boxers are totally inappropriate for that age group!!

When my son was in middle school, he received stuffed animals from his girlfriends for different occasions. If was like a badge of honor to carry them around throughout the day at school.

He would give the same kind of gift, maybe with some kind of candy related to the time of year.

I would never let him spend much, maybe $5 because the relationships at that age are so iffy.

You can find all sorts of inexpensive stuff at Wal Greens or other drug stores.
