Universal is by far my fav over disney...my fiance will be headed down in late may and I've been planning for months now...I am NOT a roller coaster kind of gal, although fiance is...I will not get on the hulk, etc... but he convinced me to get on the Tower of Terror last year and I must admit that wasnt that bad....just wondering about the mummy...we were there a few years ago when they were just building it...Is it a roller coaster etc... Also what about the Jurassic park river ride, is this a roller coaster type too...I know I am a baby but I do not want to end up sick to my stomach for choosing the wrong ride...

Jurassic Park River Adventure is like a big log ride -- one large drop at the end. My oldest DD (now 9) went on it when she was 5 and LOVED it.

The Mummy is a roller coaster, but it isn't nearly as bad as the Hulk. The special effects are AWESOME!!! The same DD mentioned above went on the Mummy, tolerated it, but isn't too keen on going on it again anytime soon.

I don't do coasters or any constant spinning rides...vertigo over here. I also don't "love" being dropped. I love the Spiderman ride, but I always have to shut my eyes towards the end when the graphics get to be too much. DH is a thrill ride/coaster addict!

I've always wondered about Mummy. DH says I could handle the beginning of the ride, but he says the end is totally a roller coaster.

JP I've gone on. Just like the previous poster said, it's a big drop. I'm a serious JP/Spielberg fan, so I couldn't not go on it once. I did, I survived, I'm alive, but I don't need to do it again :sad2:

FWIW, I love DH's "Mummy" time. Finnegans is right across the "street" with pints of awesome lager. He can go on it as many times as he likes :drinking1

The Mummy is an inside roller coaster. No flips or going upside down loops. I love that ride :thumbsup2

The mummy is awesome. It is a roller coaster, but the effects are so awesome that it takes your mind off the coaster part. Of course, I still screamed. The pic at the end is halarious because my mouth is open so wide I swear you can see my stomach, but my 7yo neice is sitting beside me looking bored to death!!!!!

Agree with the advice so far....JRPA, Spiderman, Mummy are all great rides. Give the Hulk some more thought...I thought I was afraid of coaster, but tried the Hulk (my first coaster ride in 25 years) and loved it...After the takeoff and first drop, it's a nice smooth ride.

Have fun!!

Mummy is a dark ride/coaster with no inversions. It just has a launch and a few minimal drops. Jurassic Park is a slow moving boat ride with a drop at the end. It's in the dark, so you can't see anything though.

Hi there,

The only things that made me feel queasy at US/IOA were:

- Spiderman - it's a 3D-Movie Ride...yes, it's as cool as it sounds, but by the end I felt a little bit off color. I still rode it 4 times, though, because it's an excellent ride.

- Back to the Future - a flight sim, but these always make me feel sick. This is the only thing I have only ridden once and won't do again.

Jurrassic Adventure is excellent, and really not that scary - there are no hidden drops, only the big one you can see.

I have never ridden Duelling Dragons or The Hulk because I don't like the restraints that come down over your shoulders which are on all upside-down rollercoasters. My sisters love them, though.

You HAVE to ride the Mummy! I cannot stress enough that I don't, can't, will not do roller coasters but the family got me on the Mummy (I never really thought of it as a coaster) and it was one of my favorite rides!!

I am NOT a rollercoaster person. At the end of Mummy, I wished it would have been longer. What a fun ride! I think that dark coasters don't bother me because I can't see what's going to happen, but I won't ride them out in the open. I also love RnR... again, in the dark.

Spiderman is by no means a coaster, in any sense of the word. The graphics around you feel like you're swinging with Spidey, but you really aren't.

We were on Mummy about 5 times last week and Spiderman about 10X.

Just wanted to say that I got my mom on Jurrasic Adventure.......it was so funny! I had out my little guide book and it's talking about a "Jungle Cruise" so I told her that it was just a little cruise. (Little did I know about the drop at the end......the book didn't tell me about that!) I wish I would've bought the pic at the end because it was priceless! She wasn't too mad at me though, she went on it again last year. ;)

I can't wait to ride the Mummy next week, but I doubt that Mom will be able to ride that one...........lol

You must ride the Mummy ... what a wonderful ride! :cheer2: It is fast but the drops are not long ones and you are never upside down, or even close to it. I will not ride the Hulk either and I had no problem with the Mummy at all.
Jurassic Park River Adventure ... well, I did it but I probably won't go again. I thought the drop was pretty intense. In all fairness though, I was in the front seat and it probably wouldn't have been nearly as bad if I had been further back. I don't think you would have any trouble with Spiderman; it's all simulated so you can just close your eyes if you're queasy or frightened. Go for it!
