Need Advice: Bedwetting 4 yr old

We have 3 still in goodnights, they just dont wake up. DR. said it can and will take some kids longer than others. DS6 almost 7 DD8 almost 9( she is doing better, not many accidents) and DD4.

There is no way to make them not wet the bed. They wont wet forever.

I just wanted to comment about this because I know how frustrating it is also. I have a 10 year old that still wets the bed. He is a big boy for his age and pull ups dont fit anymore. (he weight 175 and is 5'3 already) The doctor told me that it will pass when he is ready, like when he got to be the age for sleep overs but it still has not happened yet. We limit his drinking amounts and the time before bed too, also we make him go right before bed and also wake him up, but he still has accidents. I get frustrated because the dog can wake him up 1 or 2 times to go outside but his body can't wake him up to go. He also wets almost every night (maybe 1 dry night a month) He is sad because he is in 5th grade this year and wants to go to the camp they have but won't do it with his problem. when we go to disney I bring depends but sometimes he wets throught them
I have a 6 year old with the same problem but he has 1 to 2 dry nights a week.
My husband said he had a bed wetting problem until he was 10 and my sister wet the bed until she was a freshman in high school and then just stopped.
it is very frustrating but something you just learn to deal with...

Perhaps things are different in the UK but I am a nursery nurse in a school and I don’t know any of my children aged 5+ that wear pull ups to bed. I have two sons aged 9 and one just turned 3 both of which are fully potty trained and don’t wear pull ups to bed. My 9 year old was fully potty trained by 3 1/2.

Your daughter will do it when she is ready and until then it is your decision whether or not to keep using the pull ups.
My youngest son who turned 3 in May has been going to bed with no pull ups for the last month, admittedly he had one or two accidents at first but now he is completely dry.

If I had a child who was over 5 and wore potty training pants to bed, I would be slightly concerned but it sounds like the paediatrician has stated that there are no worries. It is funny how things differ from country to country.

I am sure everything will work out ok, good luck :thumbsup2

It's no different in the UK, I think you've just been lucky not to come accross anyone who is a late developer. There are certainly specialist clinics that children can be referred to within the NHS. When a friend's children had this problem she was suprised at how many older children (I'm talking 12+) needed help. There are many things that can be done to help, including drugs if appropriate.

You just have to look at the sizes available in pull-ups to know there are enough larger children out there to make it worth manufacturing them.

Talking to the child's GP or paediatrician is the best place to start.
