I hope some of you can give me advice. I have a basic manual Brother sewing machine that is about 12 yrs. old. I have so much trouble with the tension that it is nearly impossible to sew. I have had it cleaned and adjusted, etc. I just want a new machine. I do basic sewing like repairs, curtains and such but would like to begin small quilting projects.

I have seen on different sewing sites that the computerized machines are much easier to use. I was looking at the lower end Brother CS-6000i. Brother makes another computerized machine that also has quilting abilities but can't find the number now. I can't really find much information on machine ratings other than epinions.

What I want is a low end computerized machine as I probably will not use it as much as I anticipate. I don't have any space where I can leave it set up for now and that makes a big difference when you have to drag things out of closets all the time.

What machines do you have? Are you satisified? Cost? I would like to keep it under about $300. Am I being realisitic? I know the machine above is about $200 at Walmart. I am afraid of going into Joann for fear I would be talked into a much more expensive machine. The Viking, Bernina etc machines don't get the best ratings on epinions for some reason. I think also you have to be a serious sewer to want to handle one of those puppies.

Any and all information appreciated. :wave2:
