Hi - I am new to this board and we have planned our FIRST Disney vacation for March. We will be there Thurs-Mon. I need some ideas of things to do for 1-3 hours without wasting a whole day on our hopper passes since the day we arrive and leave are 1/2 days.
I know about bike riding on the boardwalk at that hotel. Any help on any thing else would be great.
Where do we go boating? Paddelboats, etc?

My children are ages 2 & 5.
Thanks.

DO NOTHING!

Often people over book thier time and never relax and enjoy themselves.

Kids will be just as happy by the pool. Enjoy your resort.

Ride the resort loop of the monorail. Most kids love the monorail, and parents like checking out the resorts (dreaming of places to stay "in another life"). Also there are sometimes a few characters hanging out at the resorts. I think you can rent different kinds of boats at the Poly, and possibly some of the other hotels on the MK monorail loop.
Swim at your hotel, wander around, check out your surroundings. There's usually a lot to do at the hotel.

I just wanted to second the hang out at the resort vote. My kids love the pool. We couldn't spend enough time at the CBR pool last time we were there.

Do a character meal! We do Chef Mickey's the first night. It gets everybody in the spirit, we get the see Mickey, and we don't use an otherwise busy parks day with a long meal. (Then do the monorail loop as suggested!)

We've also done character breakfasts on the last morning!

You can do the campfire at FW, visit the petting zoo also at FW, tour DTD and visit the Lego store, Miniature golf, visit other resorts, and my favorite ride the monorail from the TTC to Epcot and ask to ride up front. Spectacular views of Epcot and a really neat experience.

We have AP's now, but here are some of our favorite things to do when we don't:

Ride the resort loop of monorail and check out the resorts.
Go to DownTown Disney
Take a bus to MK, then grab the boat to Ft.Wilderness. Eat at Trail's End buffeteria, great value, then walk on over to petting zoo. Or rent a boat and have some fun from there.
Take Disney trans.boat to WL, check it out then nap in the lobby in one of the wonderful oversized chairs. (we did this once in the middle of the trip, just to rest/relax for awhile, our wake up call was when they opened Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner...it is kind of neat the way they do it!)
Check out any resort we haven't stayed at yet.
Head to Boardwalk.
Hang out at the resort, swim, jacuzzi, eat, shop, ride bikes, walk.
If you have a car, go to Premier Outlet Mall and buy all your souveniers at 50 to 75% off WDW prices. They have a great "Disney Store" (not called that, though.) I think it is called Character Warehouse?
You can rent boats at GF, Contemporary, Poly or Ft.Wilderness, I don't know where else.

There is a link somewhere for free things to do while at WDW, I can't remember where though, I'm sorry. Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the great advice. We have put together a wonderfully open itinerary and are looking forward to our trip.
