Need a 'word' for a 'name'

"Mira" is the greek word for fate. It's written μοίρα.

You should tell her that!

Wow! I never knew that. She just shorted it from Miracle. The little girl will be 8 in January. I'll have to tell her next time I see her.

:rotfl:

I like Victoria. I don't like those names like "Charity" and "Faith". Concepts for concepts and names for names. That's me.

A friend of mine gave her daughter "Holly" as a middle name because she was born on Christmas Day. :santa: The girl is 22 now and has always hated it. You just never know what the kid will appreciate.

Good luck!

Aw, but I like HOlly :)... and all kids hate their name at one point or another...lol

Yeah..I'm not big on the Charity/Faith chain of names... but I like things that are different, and hope one jumps out at me... I"m gonna have to run "Alaska" by DBF :)
Victoria is still front runner tho.. we opted out of Grace awhile back because it was TOOO common to pair with "Ella"sen

I understand your idea, but I really don't like the sound of Miracle as a name. It just sounds awkward and not feminine to me.

It is the name of the horse in Blazing Saddles. Anyone remember that?:lmao: Miracle is an animal name, a name of a racer.

I like Elle best, then Ella. I do not like Ellasen. But Victoria goes with Ella.

Ella Victoria sounds good.

Actually, it was in History of the World Part 1, although it may have been in Blazing Saddles too.

Before I was married, my first, middle, and last names could all double as common nouns. I've always loved my name (I go by Brooke, and Lily is not my first name). I didn't want to drop my last name when I got married because it, and it's common noun use, were a part of me. I've taken it as a second middle name. My daughter's first and middle names are both common nouns as well. They're not strange (ie. Apple), and you'll find them in any baby names book. I see nothing wrong with names as common nouns, and I daresay I've never been less respected because of my name. Good luck in finding the perfect name for your little one.

I vote for Dawn.

I have also thought of that name...thought it was spelled Aislan tho... but love it!!

Aisling. It's Irish for fantasy, dream, or vision, depending on context. (Specifically, as a word it most commonly refers to a special type of poetry, one that refers to Ireland as a woman.) It is normally pronounced ASH-ling, though in some parts of Ireland the local accent makes it more Ash-LEEN, with the G sound kind of slurred off. It has been a very popular name in Ireland for decades now, though not so much in the US. Some people choose to Anglicize the name spelling to Ashling or Ashleen -- one of my cousins is married to a woman who spells it Ashling.

I never really thought about the name Victoria before, either pro or con. However, I think it goes beautifully with Ellasen! And as a PP mentioned, as soon as you mentioned it in the OP, I immediately associated it with Victorious!

I think Ellasen Victoria is a beautiful name and would have so much meaning for you!:goodvibes

I never hated my name. :)

Laura Ashley

We are still working on a middle name for our soon to be daughter, Ellasen.
As of now..it is Victoria.... but we were trying to come up with an idea -

She has put us through alot of stress over test results, and continued to overcome... We want something to represent this trial of pregnancy with her. Something along the lines of "Faith, Hope & Love", but none of those 'names'. LOL
We kinda like "Miracle" so far...
Any ideas??

There's a kid at my son's school who is named "A Miracle"!

I think Victoria is a perfect name..

i plan to name my first child Alaska Zaeda. (pronounced zay-duh)

my great great (great?) grandmother's name was Mary Elzada.

You are having a child, not an event. Give her a name she will love for the rest of her life and not one she will be tagged. She will know she is loved and she can hear about your 9 months, but don't tag her with the event.

The girl's name Siobhan \sio(b)-han\ is pronounced sha-VAHN. It is of Irish origin. Variant of Joan, which is a feminine form of John (Hebrew) "the Lord is gracious". Phonetic forms of this name are a blend of the Sha- prefix with Yvonne. Actress Siobhan McKenna.

Siobhan has 20 variant forms: Chavonne, Chevonne, Chivon, Chyvonne, Shavaun, Shavon, Shavonne, Shervan, Shevon, Shevonne, Shirvaun, Shivahn, Shivaun, Shovonne, Shyvonne, Sh'vonne, Sioban, Siobahn, Siobhian and Syvonne.

She will know she is loved and she can hear about your 9 months, but don't tag her with the event.

I agree! Find a beautiful name that will fit her, not a "word" that reminds her of what she put you through.

I have to agree. All of my pregnancies were a LONG journey and my 2 surviving children were huge miracles, but I would never have considered naming them something that reflected the difficulties I had! I think with an unusual first name like Ellason you should stick with a normal name like Elizabeth.

Good statement.

If you were planning Victoria before the scare, then stick with it. Grace sounds good too.
