Need a 'word' for a 'name'

hhaha :rotfl2:

Journey...it certainly has been a beautiful one, right?

Haven't even thought of that...and it was on our list as a first name initially!!! Hmmm... I have a doll I named Journey a long time ago...love that name :)

My middle name is Victoria. I think it's lovely.

I understand your idea, but I really don't like the sound of Miracle as a name. It just sounds awkward and not feminine to me. However, if you find something that's really meaningful to you it would probably be fine as a middle name. You would give it to her for the meaning, but it's not something she would likely use in her everyday life.

I like the sound of VIctoria too, and I never really thought much of the name before..it just flows beautifully...
I always have to 'yell' the full name in my head...like when you are calling your kids by their first and middle name when they are in trouble...lol..
I can see Ellasen Miracle.... but still not sold on it like I am Victoria.. so, just here to toss around ideas :)

Thanks for all of them!!

Can I play devils advocate for a minute. If you give your child a name that represents the trials you went through with this pregnancy how do you think it would make her feel later in life? I mean it could lay some guilt on her about the difficulties and trials she put you through. Do you think that is something she wants to think about whenever she hears or writes her middle name. Not sure I would want that. Unless of course you plan to never tell her about your difficulties.

But anyway, just my thought.

i LOVE journey, how sweet.

I love Ellasen Victoria, but I also like Ellasen Destiny. I too have followed your thread and I know that whatever the end result, you felt it was your destiny to have this child and no matter what anyone told you, you would have this child. It was your destiny to be together as a family. Anyway, JMHO.

That said, I would go with Ellasen Victoria. I just don't think any of the "word" names are really appropriate for the long term. You can call her "our little miracle" but I honestly think at some point she will wish she were named something else.

I agree, instead of focusing on a name that refers to her in the past, (the nine months before she was born,) focus on a name that is going to represent her upcoming ninety years on the planet. :thumbsup2

As someone else said, such a name could become burdensome later in life; or make her think that she has license to become a holy terror, because she was so "special".

Perhaps you could approach it in a more symbolic way but keep the sentiment. Perhaps choose a name based on a literary or legendary character that overcame great adversity. Or go with the "foreign-language" version, so long as the word you choose is indeed normally used as a name in that language. Our baby is named that way. She surprised us at age 45, after a long string of miscarriages that included a late-term loss to T21; her daddy decided that Aisling was the perfect name. The daughter we lost to T21 had a name from legend: Niamh. Both of those are common names in Ireland.

I was born a conehead and I would have hated to be named Prymaat because of my trials as a fetus/newborn.

My friend named her son 'Walker' after Luke Skywalker because she wanted him to have 'the force.' He was born 4 months early after a car accident. He just graduated from college and is amazing!!!

Don't you mean "amazing he is"? :p

May I ask why Ellasen and not just Ella? Is there some meaning or something that I am missing maybe?

Do you pronounce is like "Ellison", as in son of Ellis?

There will also likely be a lot of Isabellas, Bellas and Ellas this year and for the next few years due to the popularity of the Twilight series. Keep in mind there may be many in her peer group with very similar names.

Never once in these 'trials' did I wish this child wasn't here, and we were going to fight for her regardless of her diagnosis... I just think something 'beautiful' in this "Journey" with her would be promising... not negative.

I have also thought of that name...thought it was spelled Aislan tho... but love it!!

Nothing like what I'm contemplating...

Ellasen is after my grandmother.... but she will likely be called Ella...but I love the name Allison, but changed it up for my grandma.
DIdn't realize that name was in that movie... but Ella seems to be popular now anyways - that's another reason I"m not sticking with 'just' Ella :)

alaska.

it means 'that which makes the waves break'

Oh...thats awesome...see, I love that as a name :)

Thanks guys!!

I never said that you wished she wasn't here or thought it, don't be putting words in my mouth. What I was trying to say that she could sometimes feel bad about all the worry and trials she put you through during your pregnancy. It might make her feel bad is all.

Althea.

It means 'healer' or better 'she who heals'.

:goodvibes

I think Victoria is a very pretty name.

My neighbor got her baby as a newborn when she was dropped off at a safe haven. She named her Mira Grace. Mira was short for miracle. I could never name my baby Miracle though, either first or middle name. It just sounds too boastful.

"Mira" is the greek word for fate. It's written μοίρα.

You should tell her that!

I guess I just never would associate it with 'making the child feel bad'.. I would associate it (if it were me and my mom) with "I was worth it" :) LOL

But, always more than one way to look at it.... I would never choose a name that would make her feel guilty or 'bad' a bout the journey we went through...
