My vacume of almost 10 years died this weekend, I think a toy got sucked up and burnt out the motor. So I am looking for a new one. Does anyone have any suggestions, are there any deals out there, I am on a budget! Of course I am having guests over this weekend, so I can't wait too long, ugh!

Thanks

I don't know if there are any deals for them, but I have a Dyson after many other brands over the years, and Dyson gets my vote hands down. When I was divorcing, it was the only thing that my soon-to-be-ex and I fought over - not the antiques, or the house, or the cars, or the 401k - the Dyson. They're fantastic!

The couple of times I've had a problem, they walked me through fixing it over the phone. Great customer service!

The first or second Christmas my son was in college, I got him one. It's been quite the bargaining chip with roommates!

Consumer Reports doesn't rate them very high, but I don't always agree with Consumer Reports.

I lke to get zee new vacumes at Tarzhay, zey ave dee best prices! :rotfl:

Seriously, get whichever one you pick at a place that has a liberal return policy. (ie avoid Fry's Electronics, who make you give up your firstborn and fingerprints to return something). You may have to try out a few before you find one you like.

My vote is for the Eureka Boss. I've had mine for 5 years, and nothing has ever gone wrong. I replaced the belt this spring, and it works just as well as it did when I bought it.

You can buy it for $139 at Walmart, $149.99 at Amazon, $139.99 at Costco.

It's not a super quiet vacuum, but I find that it is significantly less noisy than a Dirt Devil. It's also bagged- which I find creates a lot less dust than the other vacuums.

kenmore progressive upright!! I have a cleaning business and have 3 of them. They are a little heavier than some others but are the best!Should last at least 7 years (and that is using twice a week). If a belt breaks you can easily change it.Consumer reports have had it at the top of their list for years!:thumbsup2

The last two vacuum cleaners I got I found on the side of a road. The first one is a enclosed bag Panasonic and the other is a Oreck XL. Both work perfect. The Oreck had a poker card stuck in the tube. I am in the cleaning business, just amazes me what people throw away.

I wanted a Dyson but just couldn't spend the money on it. I hated the vacuum I had it was a bagless and I hated when I had to empty the container.

I got a Eureka Boss at Kohls with a 20% off coupons - so far I LOVE it, the suction is so much better then my old one, and it has the bag which I wanted. I love the bag more then the bagless.

Just saw on slickdeals that Macy's had the slim dyson on sale for around 269 with free shipping. Hope this helps someone!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my dyson!!! Kohl's has good prices on them and target will run specials where you can get a gift card free with your purchase. My favorite past about it is all you have to do to empty the canister is pull a button!!! AWESOME!!! no more touching dust and funk!!! good luck with your choice!

I love my Dyson DC14. It hurt to spend the $ but I would lose more if I did like my mother in law and bought a new "cheap" $70 vacumn each year at Walmart.

They usually sell refurbished ones on Amazon.

Bissel Healthy Home 129$ at Home Depot ranked better than the Dyson! I love it. Worth every penny!

I sent my dh out to get me a bagless, because we have 5 furry pets, and he was sold a kenmore canister from sears. It works great, but I have to change the bag every 1-2 weeks because it's full of dog/cat hair. Thank you mister salesman... :(
I would definitely get a bagless if you have a lot of pets. My friend has a dyson and loves it. They got a floor model at best buy for $50 off and had a coupon for $50 off. She's a super bargain shopper anyway.

I've managed to kill every vacuum we've ever had except for our dyson. I know they are expensive but they are way cheaper than having to buy a new one every 8 months or so. We've had ours for almost 4 years now and it's still going strong.
