So, my old camera (it's 4 years old now) is on it's last leg...doesn't always take the picture on the first press of the shutter button, eats batteries...generally is just a PITA now.

I'm looking at getting the Casio Exilim (one of the older models) on amazon.

All I really need is a P&S digital camera, that takes great photos of my very active 19 month old, isn't huge to lug around, and under $150.

What do you photograpy pros think?

I'm not a pro in any way.
I like Canon. I would go with one of them if it were me...or I would look at nikon or Olympus. Those are the only brands I would consider.

I have one of the older Casio Exilim models and I use it as my P&S backup when I dont want to carry my DSLR. I gave one to my mother and she has not stopped using it since she got it. They are good cameras and would buy another is the one i have should ever break

Thanks guys! :D

I think I'm going to borrow my mom's (at her suggestion) for our trip in June, and then we'll probably buy our own once DH gets his bonus. :D

I had 3 Canon P&S before upgrading to my Nikon dSLR.... If you go with a Canon or Nikon, you can't go wrong... They make amazing cameras...

Ha ha, I'm definitely not a pro, but I'll give you my opinion anyway. ;)

I have a Casio Exilim EX-Z850, currently sitting unused in a drawer. It's about 2 or 3 years old, and was one of their higher end point & shoots at the time I bought it. It takes absolutely AWFUL pictures in dim light, no matter what the setting is. (My dim light, I mean something like inside a restaurant where a flash should compensate for the lower lighting...not the pitch dark.)

On the other hand, I bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 last fall. I absolutely love this camera. It's a little larger than most point & shoots, but it has a 10x optical zoom. I've also been able to take some good night shots with it, simply by using the factory pre-sets for night portrait, or night scenery.

Sherry, that's a bummer that you've had such a bad experience with your Casio. My sister has had her Casio Exilim for a couple years now and loves it. She brought it to WDW in December and got some pretty good shots...even in dim light.

I like the Kodak V-series. I had a V603 (have sence given it to my dad) and it took great shots. It was tiny and fit into my pocket. It did use it's own type of batteries, but 1 normally lasted a full (12 hour) day at Disney. I got mine from an Ebay store for $90 with a 2nd battery almost 2 years ago.
