UPDATE:
Laura hoped we'd be transferred out of here, but she has transferred to the rehab unit now. Medically they aren't doing anything for her and she needs a ton of rehab to hopefully regain the ability to walk.
She's been pretty upset today because she wanted to go home so bad. Her big brother's birthday is Sat. and she wants to be with him. Those two fight like cats & dogs a lot of the time but this trial has really made them close.
The latest MRI on her brain shows no change. The MRI on her spine shows anterior horn cell involvement (???) and those horn cells affect movement, which is probably why she has lost her ability to walk. They don't know if this is something new or if its been there all along because the first MRI didn't really capture that part of her spine. They say these anterior horn cells can recover and hopefully in time she'll get her strength back, but they just can't guarantee anything. They never have figured out what caused this, which is frustrating.
So looks like we'll be here awhile. Its a miracle she's survived this. She was a miracle child once with her heart transplant, but this latest illness has really cemented that title. I know everyone's prayers have helped pull us all through this. I am still overwhelmed and amazed at the strength and love of this DIS family.
From the bottom of my heart I thank you.
