Well today we had an evaluation conference with the doctors, therapists, school rep, etc. They said with Laura's condition to expect slow progress with emphasis on SLOW. And she may get to a point where she plateaus for awhile. With her nerve damage, if she over works it may set her back in progress.
The current plan is to keep her here in the hospital for another 2-3 weeks and at that time we'll evaluate again whether she's ready to go home or if she needs to stay even longer. I'm happy to find out they can keep her that long to give her a lot of good therapy, but we have been here 3 weeks already and I miss my son so much I can't imagine another 3 weeks with seeing him only on the weekends. We'll get through it but this is so hard. The doctor also said we should expect 6-12 months before she will be considered able to independently care for herself.
Sorry if its getting annoying to see this thread pop to the front page every now and again. It just helps me to have ya'll to talk to.
