Need A Miracle - Please Pray UPDATE PG 29

I've been thinking of your family all day. Hope Laura's outing was everything you all hoped it would be and that your son's birthday was a happy one.

Thanks for the update Liz. Tell Laura that We're keeping her in our prayers.:)

Well today we had an evaluation conference with the doctors, therapists, school rep, etc. They said with Laura's condition to expect slow progress with emphasis on SLOW. And she may get to a point where she plateaus for awhile. With her nerve damage, if she over works it may set her back in progress.

The current plan is to keep her here in the hospital for another 2-3 weeks and at that time we'll evaluate again whether she's ready to go home or if she needs to stay even longer. I'm happy to find out they can keep her that long to give her a lot of good therapy, but we have been here 3 weeks already and I miss my son so much I can't imagine another 3 weeks with seeing him only on the weekends. We'll get through it but this is so hard. The doctor also said we should expect 6-12 months before she will be considered able to independently care for herself.

Sorry if its getting annoying to see this thread pop to the front page every now and again. It just helps me to have ya'll to talk to.

This is hardly annoying! Best wishes, prayers and many good thoughts for your daughter and all of you as you move forward in her recovery! Please keep us updated!

I'm glad you give us updates, Liz. I'm glad that they can keep Laura for such a long time so that she can get the help she needs. I hope she continues get stronger every day. I know you miss your son, though. You will be home with him again in just a few weeks and I know you will be glad.

Continuing my prayers for your family. {{{HUGS}}}

Liz, it's so good to hear that Laura is progressing and that things seem to be looking up. Thank you for keeping us updated. People here really do care. And it is NEVER annoying to see your thread!! Don't even think that! :)

Liz, this is not annoying at all! I like to think that this is why we come to the CB. Your DD's progress sounds encouraging. Slow is better than no progress at all. It sounds like you are holding up nicely. :) Keep hanging in there.

You'd better keep updating us, Liz, I look for this thread everyday hoping for encouraging news.

And this does seem encouraging! I know it must be difficult to only see your son on the weekends, but at least Laura is getting good care in the hospital.

Your family remains in my prayers. Please keep updating us, whenever you can.

Liz - thanks for the updates....

Please do continue to let us know how things are. :)

Continued best wishes, good thoughts and prayers for you, Laura and your family.

Liz, this is not annoying at all. I want to hear the updates. I want to hear what's going on.

I am glad to hear Laura is improving, however slow this process will be.

We'll be here for you for whatever we can do. Just let us know. :)

I'm glad it sounds like she's at least healthy and on the road to recovery now. I'll continue to pray that she'll make progress. And I'll pray for your family. It must be very hard being split up like that. {{{Hugs}}}

Liz, please do keep up with the updates, families like us here on the DIS care about one another.

One step forward is one step forward. Laura is on the mend. Continued prayers and best for you all.

Dan

Liz,
This is a good update. I am so happy she is doing this well. I know it will be a long road but she is a determined little girl--a real fighter!

So, when can we send her some goodies?????

Thanks for the update! We are always here for each other! I don't know what I would do if I didn't have you guys to hang and hug on to at times!! I will continue to keep her, you, and the rest of the family in my prayers!

I thought of you guys yesterday - and said a prayer again for Laura. You better keep us updated! Hang in there. Little steps are better than no steps.

Liz, thank you so much for the update. Trust me they are not annoying at all and I look forward to hearing the news. We are like family here and we are here to listen, give support & hugs, laugh & cry whenever needed :) Glad to hear that she is able to stay that long and get the therapy she needs. I am sure it will be a long three weeks for all of you but I do hope that it truly helps Laura to stay. Hang in there, come and keep us posted and do try to remember to take good care of yourself as well {{{HUGS}}}
