UPDATING AGAIN!
Feeling hopeful tonight! Its been a good couple of days. I had the doctor write down the official name of her diagnosis. They still don't know the cause, but her illness is called "Acute Demyelinating Encephalo Myelitis". I'm not going to research it because I'm afraid I'll read something that will further scare me to death.
Physical Therapy is having her sit up in a wheelchair 30 min. twice a day to strengthen her muscles. Still very weak in her left arm and leg and weakness in her right leg too but not as bad as the left. But the physical therapist said based on her knowledge if the damage was permanent she would be slumping on one side and she can tell the muscles are working, they are just very weak. So that's encouraging.
The southern enceph. and western enceph. tests came back negative. They are still waiting on Calif. enceph. and St. Louis enceph. and other tests like the JC virus. The one test that was close to being a positive they have now ruled out because the level has dropped instead of going higher.
Tomorrow they are doing another MRI on her brain and Monday they will repeat the MRI on her spine. It may not help us cure whats going on but they feel it will give them a better idea of what these "lesions" are doing.
She's reluctantly beginning to eat because the doctor was threatening an NG tube if she didn't. She doesn't like much of what they do to her but she always cooperates. She's such a trooper.
Also she won a blanket in bingo here at the hospital on Wednesday! They have it so all the patients in the hospital who are able can play right from their own rooms and they show the cards over closed circuit TV! That was fun for her.
Thanks for all your prayers. We feel them working. Will let you guys know how the MRIs turn out.
