I had a GREAT heating pad that got wicked hot.. I loved it !! It was my grandmothers... LOL!!!

It broke last night and I went to Walgreens to get another one and this one does not even get nearly as warm..Anyone have a good one that gets nice and hot that they can recommend????THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a microwave heating paid htat is my best friend. Takes about 90 seconds in the mw for it to get hot. I use it daily on my stiff back..

I don't have an electric one.

herc.

My mom made me a corn bag, it's basically a bag of dried corn- she made it nice with a canvas inner bag and an outer flannel cover and all, but my wife has since made simpler ones- It's just dried corn in a cloth bag of whatever size suits your specific aches. Microwave it for about 5 minutes, and it gets and stays very hot for a good long time- I found the weight of it is nice too, pushes it onto your sore muscles. I use it all the time. My DD was taking it to bed with him last winter as his room was pretty cold!

Just don't use Popcorn if you make one!

I got one at CVS...it's a microwave one. I think it's called the bed buddy or something like that. It's long and has a blue handle on each end. You can nuke it until it gets as hot as you want it to. It works great!!!

Oh that sounds GREAT.. I just bought an electric one last night and it is not warming up at all!!!!!!!!!!!

I got an electric one at Wal-Mart (don't know the name but it is blue and has off, low, med, and high settings) when I had my endometrial ablation and it was WONDERFUL!!! I fell asleep with it on me one time and got a little burn, so yes, I would say it gets plenty HOT!!!

I made a similar one (but not as fancy) with white rice and a tube sock. I sprinkle it with a little bit of water and pop it into the microwave for 3 minutes. It gets very hot and retains the heat for quite a while. It's also a very moist heat that works well for me.

We had this same problem and all I can say is.. they sure don't make them like they used to! They dont get anywhere near as hot!! Luckily I got an old pad from my MIL to use for a while! The one we had bought at walgreens was TERRIBLE!

Thanks,, I just got one from Walgreens and it is AWFULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've dealt with three surgeries in the last three years and before my first one, I bought an oversize heating pad at Wal-Mart. It can be used dry or wet. I seriously had this thing on me for months at a time and have nothing but great things to say about it. It is the only brand they carry and it cost like $25 but my gosh did it save my life.

I bought the one that Target sells for my legs when I had a blood clot and it gets really hot-I only put it on the third level and it goes to 4.It does automatically turn off after like a half hour which is a bit annoying but you can turn it right back on.It has long straps to tie across you to keep it on and a really long cord which I liked.I don't know the brand but it was a blue and white box and it was the only brand they sell-it was around 20 dollars.

I also have a rice bag that I put in the microwave. I love it! It stays hot for quite a while. I bought it at a craft sale, but it would be easy enough to make - some pre-quilted fabric and a bag of rice. Mine calls for 3 min of microwave time, and at that point it is wicked hot. I wrap it in a towel for the first several minutes of use.

ETA: LOL, I looked back and saw that you're the OP, Kritter! So I'll give a little more detail: I got mine at Cape Cod Crafters by the Christmas Tree Shop at Buckland. It's been several years, but I think I saw them there the last time I popped in.

Best of luck!
