We have an XT for our main camera. But the Sony DSC we used for several years and DW still prefererred or we'd use in quick take situations (fit in the pocket kind of deals) has a blur on the sensor and I don't feel like sending it in for repair (not under warranty).

I'd like to get a backup/quick P&S in the $250 - $350 range. I'd like to either stay Sony (since I have the media) or are there any P&Ss that use CF (have a couple of 2GB cards for the XT)?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I don't think there are any CF p&s models around anymore. For what it is worth, SD is really cheap and would extremely open up your choices. I think a 2GB card on Newegg is going for about $15-20. Otherwise, it sounds like Sony is your only choice.

For that price, I would suggest a waterproof Pantax or Olympus. They take decent pics and is fun to have on vacation.

I'll throw in my endorsement for the Canon 700 or 800 IS. The photos are great, and I really am amazed at how well the IS works.

My son has this camera, and the other day at his choir concert, I didn't bring my XT, and he asked me to take photos with his 700 IS. I used no flash, it was a darker auditorium with stage lighting, and I sat a ways back. The photos turned out remarkably well.

Regards,

Boris
