has anyone heard any recent reports about the haunted mansion at disneyworld getting the nightmare before christmas makeover this year like they do in disneyland.i have been anxiously waiting for this for 2 years and use to see little blurbs about this but have not seen anything in a while :confused3 thanks

It is my understanding that Disneyland was to have a five year exclusivity on the NBC Haunted Mansion Holiday. Since it was first in use in 2001, if true, you would hear more about it next year.

The DLR makeover is awesome. I hope it makes it to Fla. :earsboy:

I doubt that they had a 5 year exclusive. We are the only park that doesn't have it. They even took the scheduled transition last year from us and gave it to another park.

i also heard that it would happen last year but then tokyo got it instead which was a huge disappointment to me because i even remember reading some sort of announcement about it....then i read a rumor about it coming this year because haunted mansion is going to shut down for rehab in september???but it seems unlikely with all the stuff they have going on for happiest celebration on earth :sad2:

I had heard FL didn't get HMH was because the MK sunk all their money in to Stitch's Great Escape....don't know how true that is.

It will not happen in WDW this year.
DEP has cancelled the 999 happy haunts event citing that they're too busy with the 50th celebration. My prediction is 06, possibly 07.

wow i can't believe they cancelled the 999 haunts ball-do you think HM will be shut down for any rehab still or will that be put off as well?

None that I've heard of; but, there would of course be some downtime - pre and post - opening for NBC at WDW. My understanding is that most if not all of the show elements have been imagineered, but not produced. And I do believe you will see the return of the 999 HHE in 06 or 07. That has been deemed a 'sucessful' event (read profitable).

I've heard that there is a 1 month downtime in Sept. Then it will be down for about 2-3 months starting Janfor another rehab.

I would love for the Haunted Mansion to get the NBC yearly makeover. I have never been to Disneyland, and I would really like to experience it.

I would love it if the Haunted Mansion Holiday would hit WDW this year, it is my Wedding & Honeymoon there this year!!!

This is probably a stupid question but what is the 999 Happy Haunts Ball, sounds like something i would love. I love the haunted mansion!!

Thanks everyone!

The 999 HHE is an assortment of events, seminars, exculsive merchandise, experiences event at WDW. It has been held each year during the last week of October. "Packages" determine what level of particiaption you recieve. Pricing is accordingly structured, running from about $ 150 pp to about $ 3000 pp. On the 'low end', accommodations are not included, but you do get some limited merchandise HM themed gifts, and have the right to buy more. So merchandise items (all or limited edition) are very rare editions - only 15 or 25 made. On the High end package, you are amoung about 30 people who get to have a private dinner inside the HM. All packages include admission to the MK, with attendence limited to (can you guess? ;) ) 999. A buffet is served, parade, various attractions are operating. It's a really 'frightfully' fun time. there is also an auction, and seminars for mid level and upper level packages put on by artists and imagineers who have/had involvement with the attraction/movie.

Ok, call me dopey..........

I read this title and thought to myself "Oh I would Love to see Matt and Katie at the Haunted Mansion! I wonder what they would do there??"

When DL was to receive the NBC overlay, they had to go down and upgrade/repair a ton of existing systems including replacing speakers, fixing lighting, and some structural issues. The fix ended up being far more extensive then anyone had imagined, and the HM was closed a couple of times for the extended rehabs. The result was a impressive improvement in the everyday ride experience, and they had the platform ready for the NBC. I figured that they would be doing the upgrades during the scheduled down time in Oct and Jan, and that the overlay would come next year. That seems to fit what everyone is saying.
