NBA Playoffs - Will I be able to watch them at POR?

With a little luck (and everyone 'showing up') the SPURS may be in playoffs during our vacation...Dallas maybe??? But will I be able to watch the games in our room. Do the resorts have Fox Sports or TNT??

Nope, you're out of luck if you want to watch it in the room. What you can do is go over the ESPN club at the boardwalk and while you eat watch it there.

Hi Vicki,

Since Disney owns ABC and ESPN, any NBA games on those channels will be available in your room. And I think, but I'm not sure, that TNT is available in the room too.

At the conference finals level of the playoffs there will probably be no more games on Fox Sports, but if there were you would not be able to watch them in a hotel room at Disney due to blackout restrictions.

And as Mary Anne said, you could always watch the games at the ESPN Club.

I'm pretty sure that you don't get TNT at the WDW Resorts - we just got back and it seems like there were games on TNT we wished we could have caught but couldn't. I think unless the games are on ESPN or the national networks you are out of luck for the most part.

I'm not into the NBA as much as I used to be, when I could have told you 100% for sure. But I think the conference finals switch over to the national network (ABC) - at least when you get past the first couple of games in the series. Weekend conference finals will probably be on ABC for sure - in prime time.

The NBA likes to get the games into a larger audience. For example, tonight they're showing game 6 of the Ind-Det series on ABC. I don't think NBC used to ever take a weeknight primetime spot for a series before the conf finals.

I have definitely seen sports on the TV at POR's River Roost Lounge, but if the game conflicts with Bob Jackson's live performance, I'm guessing that it won't be on. I'm thinking if you check with the bartenders they should be able to tell you for sure if they'll have the game on or not. It's worth a shot, even though it's not in room it's a bit more convenient than leaving the resort.

TNT is definitely not on WDW's cable system, but you maybe in luck. TNT is the exclusive home of the Eastern Conf. finals so I would assume that all the West games would be on ESPN or ABC.

We saw the NCAA Girls Hoops finals in the POR Lounge last year. Maybe they have more channels than the rooms? Call the Resort and ask the question.
