Navigating the My Disney Experience (MDE) Web Site and App

You're probably right about more issues needing to be worked out.

Sorry. Just checked the MDE Site again. The correct term is Admission Card. When you click on "Link Existing Reservations and Tickets", you are presented with 4 options. Link Resort Reservation, Link Dining Reservation, Link Ticket or Pass, Link Admission card.

When clicking on the Link Admission card, it presents you with a field to enter the card ID. on the right is a Sample Pic of an admission card with 12 digits for ID.

I assume the Admission Cards are the RFID Cards as they have a small square indentation on the top right side of the card as if there is a chip in it.

The ticket does not have any such square indentation.

These were purchased through TICKETSATWORK.com They provide corporate discounts for tickets, travel, etc... for corporate employees.

I'm surprised you can see the square for the chip. I have both RFID KTTW cards and Annual Passes (likely the same as your Admission Cards in design) and none of them have a visible sign of the chip. I actually cut up one of the KTTW cards to find the chip, and yes, it's in the upper right. It was a bit hard to find though, and I knew what I was looking for.

I'm familiar with Tickets At Work, although I've never purchased Disney tickets from them.

Is the front of the child's ticket (which I assume is still a card) a different design from the others? I'm going to guess the other are the green background designs, with either Mickey, Minnie, Donald or Goofy.

If the child's ticket is different, it's probably a blue background and says "Let the Memories Begin" at the top. If so, it is moist likely NOT an RFID card.

They might do this for two reasons:

1) They still have stock left of older child tickets and are working through them

2) The new RFID cards have no distinguishing marks between adult and child ticket entitlements. They only have the 12 character code. They don't even say what they are. So they are sending the child ticket as a different ticket so you know which is which.

#2 is actually a bit of a problem if the discount sellers start sending only the new cards.

Also, in your situation, you will need to either all enter through the old turnstiles, or go to a ticket booth and get the child's ticket changed to an RFID card.

Question, Since I had already linked the Admission Cards to the accounts, is there any way to see them linked in MDE? Or is there any way to unlink them?

I see my activated AP and expiration date in my MDE profile on the web site. After going to My Profile, click on "About Me", and it is under Affiliations. However, I had a voucher number already associated with my account, so I don't know if that matters. And it might only apply to passholders.

here's a pic of it, it can be seen when there is a glare on the spot where the chip is. causes the glate to distort a bit. Its faint but can be seen:

I believe the ones I got stated the age range on them to distinguish Adult from Child.

The Adult and child tickets are as you described. The child ticket has a blue background and it has a picture of Pluto.

This shouldn't be much of an issue, I hope... I'll get the ticket exchanged at the ticket booth. Can they exchange it at the Resort? We're staying at the AKL...

I checked MY PROFILE and "About Me" and Affiliations seems to be where entitlements to specific discounts and special offers would be. I see a place for AP info but I don't have APs so its blank. Another affiliation I have listed is my DVC account.

Thanks for all the info BTW. Great info to know.

They might be able to, at the concierge desk, although it would be on a Key To The World card stock so it will still look different (and perhaps be confused with your actual KTTW cards). Even better, they'd be able to add them all to your KTTW cards (if that's working, there were reports there were issues with the system), so you'll only need the one card for each person.

I just returned from a week in the parks using the app on an Iphone4. I didn't experience any major issues except with the 'here and now' feature. It's supposed to locate you and give you info nearby, but it often gave me info for the wrong park. I found just going in and searching by the park I was in was much easier (I know the parks pretty well so I was mainly only using this to get wait times.) I also had no problems with the in park wifi. There were a couple places inside buildings that data transfer (like sending pictures) was slow - example: inside Mousegears, but it was great otherwise! Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Hi thanks for posting. I am disabled so was wondering if you noticed if the park maps show rest rooms on? That would be really useful for me so I don't have to go looking for ages with limited mobility! Thanks.

Yes, you can filter the maps to show restroom, guest services, etc.

When I used the app in the parks a few months ago, I found myself really wishing I could filter the attractions to only show my the ones I selected as favorites (I think they call it a Wish List). I keep hoping they'll add that function one day. Did you notice any option like this?

We also recently returned from WDW and I have to say that my experience using the app on my iPhone was very different than yours. I found many places in the parks (mostly MK and AK) where the wi-fi didn't work. Often times it showed that I was connected but I got the "spinning wheel" and couldn't access the app. I did love using the app when it was accessible, but it was quite frustrating (and quite a battery drain) when it wasn't.

My recent experience was similar to yours. It worked better early in the morning when crowds were low, but later in the day it was useless. It didn't matter if I was on wifi or 4G LTE.

Yep, It was very spotty and unusable for me probably 50-60% of the time.

I can confirm the android version availability.

With this update now, I am actually able to see the linked tickets and who they are assigned to. This was a concern as I could not even find that on the MDE website...

Like the side menu on this version better as well.

One complaint I would have is when you are having to log in, after entering your password, you have to hide the keyboard to get access to the actual sign in button. If they had made that available at the top of the screen, it would be more user friendly...

Interesting, the Android update requested a new permission, "Take photos and videos". Seems they want people to use it to share experiences. Maybe they want people to take pics while in the parks and then do something like the Memories projections?

Or it's to "scan" your tickets, as in the update specs. Oh well... :)

Under Tickets and Passes for me, it shows that there is something attached, but only says "Non-Transferable".

Under Friends and Family, under my two kids, who I "manage", under MagicBands and Cards, they are listed has having a "Blue MagicCard" (of course it shows the green cards). But the codes don't match the tickets, and it refers to them as MagicBands. I can deactivate or report them as lost. This could mean our cards were deactivated whe I entered them though. I'll definitely be stopping by Guest Relations when we get back down there.

For my wife, who as a linked account, I don't see the links to tickets at all.

I don't see the ticket links on the web page though.

I still can't see the dining reservations my wife has made in either the app or web.

Oh, and the app is SLOW to respond.

So indeed there is a new app version, and there are also new features on the webpage. Biggest change I see on both is the ability to link tickets to a profile. I'm going to have to play with this for a bit. I looked quickly, and for some reason it looks like my daughter has a couple magic bands. We've never linked a ticket, nor ever had any magic bands. Interesting. We do still have some non-expiring tickets, but I haven't compared numbers there. Will see what happens when I try to link those... when I get a chance.

When you looked and saw the magic bands section, did you see that on the mobile app or on the MDE website? I can see all that info on the app but not on the website itself...

It seems they are more focused on the mobile app functionality then the website. Which is not a bad thing but I'd like to get the full experience on the Website while I'm still planning things out...

On the app only at this point.

So if I can see the Magic Bands info for my wife and my daughter (I manage all the accounts), why can't I see the Magic Bands info for myself?

I have to go into the main Tickets and Passes section and then search through the 4 tickets listed there to find the one associated with me. But it does not go any further than that, meaning it does not show the ticket linked to a magic band or anything...

This may be remedial (sorry). My MDE website account works well (from my desktop). After an initial glitch a few months ago where I needed help desk to reassociate my AP, it has been good.

Ipad MDE app has been less useful (of course). I can see room and dining reservations for next trip (October). Good. Last might I updated the ipad app. I see where it now prompts me to associate my tickets.

Wondering if I can (should) try to update Ipad MDE app with my AP info. I feel like I will risk AP functionality for MDE on full website.

Thoughts? Warnings?

So there's a Help Desk for the app? I got an error message when I tried to associate my Premier AP to my account. It said that my pass had already been assigned to another user's account. I'd like to check that out so I won't run into any issues with my December trip. Anyone know how to get tech help?
