Can someone please explain the A side and B side for National Rental car at the MCO Airport?

I keep seeing people mention a side and b side, but not sure what is meant, or which side I would normally be on.

We tend to fly SouthWest airlines - which side would I be going to??

Also, if I don't like the car selection on the side I'm on, how do I get to the other side??

Thanks!!

The way the Orlando airport is setup, they have 2 separate sides to the terminal, A and B. Each side has their own check-in counters, baggage claim, rental counters and parking garage. National has a counter and car garage on both sides. See the terminal information at this site:

The sides connect on level 3, which is the main floor. Southwest comes in on A side.

The main terminal is one building with a rectangular upper level 3 and with the Hyatt hotel at one end and stores in the middle and at the other end. Security checkpoints are at the extreme ends of this level 3. AFter you exit security look to one side and you almost can't miss a giant neon letter "A", and the giant "B" is on the other side wall.

If you can't find an appropriate car in the lot (in a garage) the rental agent probably won't think of sending you, luggage and all, to the lot on the other side which means you have to go up to level 3 to cross over but he might let you if you insist and if he has time to do a little extra paperwork.

If you fly Southwest you are closest to A side as mentioned but I was in Orlando last week on Song and used the B side and it is much less busy (or maybe it was quiet everywhere).

It really doesnt matter which side you rent from or return to. They are the same. Its only convenience as in lesss walking.
